The Tianjin Juilliard School is seeking a Visual Designer to help the school increase its brand visibility through developing and continuously improving works of various forms of visual communications in the markets of China and geographies beyond. The candidate should have solid training and experiences in artistic design, video editing, or visual communications, ideally a number of years of experiences in working in-house or in an agency environment as a designer, a video editor or on a similar position where visual communications design and creation has been the main content of his/her job description. As one of the communications specialists on team, the candidate should also be able to use English as a working language. Working closely with the Assistant Manager of Marketing Communications and Director of Marketing & Communications of the Tianjin Juilliard School, & Public Affairs teams in Tianjin and New York, the candidate will have the opportunity to participate into the various branding and marketing projects and be a part of the imitative to reinvent Juilliard School’s brand success in Tianjin as a brand new and emerging market.

 

Job Description and Main Responsibilities

 

Design & Visual Communications

-          Be the owner, curator and guardian of the Tianjin Juilliard Visual Identity Guideline; lead the continuous amendments and updates wherever necessary.

-          Assist with the development & implementation of TJS’s branding strategy and the planning of branding campaigns and work plans.

-          Own TJS’s design request management system, work processes and deliverables; Ensure the consistency, quality and timely delivery of the design works to maximize the communication results; provide design support wherever necessary.

-          Assist with the development and implementation of TJS annual photography and video shooting plans; Assist with the implementation of the plans.

-          Own and manage the database of design and visual materials on a daily basis.

-          Assist with exploration and engagement of internal and external design & visual production resources.

MKT Collaterals & Merchandising

-          Be responsible for the artistic design, production and delivery of annual work plans for TJS MKT collaterals and merchandising.

-          Assist with the ideation processes and cost structure and efficiency analysis.

Design Support

-          Provide design support to TJS MKT & PR events, artistic performances and pertinent communications activities.

-          Provide design support to online & offline communications.

-          Provide ad hoc and management support to the PA team, other senior staff and NY colleagues per reasonable requests.

 

Key Requirements

 

Education

-          A graduate from a good Chinese or overseas university with a bachelor or master’s degree.

-          Major in artistic design, digital design, print design, & visual communications, photography, video editing & production etc.

-          Non-design majors with solid design experiences and a good portfolio will also be considered.

Preferred Expertise

-          Strong print/digital design skills, or Strong photography & video editing skills; knowledge about classical music a plus; high proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, or Final Cut, and etc.

Working Experiences

-          1-3 years of working experience in providing design support/services in a business/non-profit environment.

Key Skills for Success

-          Capable of artistic touches that match TJS branding requirements; excellent work planning & project management skills; fluency in English & Chinese; fast and avid learner.

-          Strong interest in classical music / Education sectors.

-          Ability to communicate, to connect and to win trust.
