The Director of Pre-College Admission at the Tianjin Juilliard School is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of applicants to the pre-collegiate division of the Tianjin Juilliard School. The Director will work closely with the Associate Dean for Enrollment Management to shape and deliver enrollment management strategy. In this role, the Director will cultivate relationships with schools and teachers throughout China in order to build an applicant pool of high-level students. In addition, this position will collaborate closely with TJS faculty to identify prospective students and will support faculty recruitment travel and events. Fluent in Mandarin and English, they will coordinate exceptional customer service to a predominately Chinese applicant base.

Responsibilities

Supervisory

· Supervise Pre-College Admission Coordinator, including managing and delegating responsibilities related to customer service, applicant file management, and audition scheduling

Prospect Cultivation and Engagement

· Develop strategy for recruiting high-level music students from throughout China to the

Tianjin Juilliard School

· Cultivate connections with peer institutions, faculty, and administrators in order to build a network of colleagues and student pipelines

· Represent the Tianjin Juilliard School at events, visits to peer institutions, festivals and summer programs

· Design and give presentations to prospective students, parents and faculty

· Counsel prospective students and applicants during all points of the admission cycle, including information sessions, tours of campus, and counsel during yield phase

· Manage communication with applicants’ parents

· Oversee excellent and culturally sensitive customer service to a predominately Chinese collegiate applicant pool

· Analyze applicant/prospect behavior in order to make recommendations regarding how the institution should engage with them

· Develop and implement an ongoing communication plan for prospects and applicants, with the goal of attracting and enrolling a strong and diverse class

o Curate content to drive targeted communication campaigns

o Create specific methods of engagement for identified priority categories

o Collaborate with other key constituents to shape communication campaigns

Databases and Technology

· Database and Customer Relationship Management System (Slate)

o Institutional Slate specialist, along with Associate Dean for Enrollment Management and CRM/EM Data Analyst, a New York-based position

o Work closely with New York-based CRM/EM Data Analyst to support all aspects of the admission cycle

o Build reports and queries and provide insightful data analysis to the enrollment management team

· Student Information System (Oracle)

o Member of enrollment management team that designs, implements, and maintains student information system

o Assist with integration of data from Slate database to the student information system

· Website

o Maintain the Tianjin Juilliard School admission department website pages and assist in content development

· Social Media

o Collaborate with other key constituents to curate Tianjin Juilliard School social media presence in China

Enrollment Management Oversight

· Serve as member of the Admission Committee and Scholarship Committee to determine admission results, financial aid offers, and studio assignments for pre-collegiate students

· Create systems and processes that will result in the enrollment of top-tier music students to the Tianjin Juilliard School

· Participate in ongoing professional development for awareness of recruitment strategies, issues, and best practices in pre-collegiate music education

· Demonstrate a high level of discretion when managing confidential student records

· Create scholarship/financial aid packages, based on committee recommendation, for new pre-collegiate students

· Coordinate the transition of an admitted student to a fully matriculated student with other members of the enrollment management team

Minimum Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree

· 6+ years of enrollment experience

· Fluent in Mandarin and English

· Developed awareness of Classical Music tradition, pre-collegiate music education trends, global network of peer institutions and educators, and educational systems both in China and the United States

· Thorough understanding of pre-collegiate schooling systems and regulations in China

· Extensive knowledge and experience with computer applications, web-based tools, and social media

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Well-developed organizational, analytical, and administrative skills

· Goal-oriented and self-motivated

· Able to manage a broad scope of responsibilities while maintaining attention to quality and detail

· Strong diplomatic skills, with attention to bridging teams in two locations and cultures, and working with a diverse applicant pool from around the world

· Strong integrity

· Commitment to building diversity and Juilliard excellence

· Demonstrated experience delivering friendly, patient, and thorough customer service

· Ability to lead team efforts as well as being a creative collaborator

· Travel within China required, sometimes on evenings and weekends
