Major Purpose:
This position is responsible of achieving departmental goals and objectives such as meeting the daily production rate, quality standards and safety/environmental regulations he supervises production employees . The supervisor is the first-line liaison between the production employees and the management staff and thus also serves the function of representing the company's interests with the shop floor staff. In the tractor operation this position will be the one with most experienced and will provide coaching to the unit supervisors II.

These are the main roles and responsibilities
* Supervises and leads production personnel
* Ensure meeting production schedule complying with safety, quality, efficiency and cost requirements
* Monitors and controls over time
* Investigates and resolves different problems or identifies the issues so that other areas can resolve them
* Ensures that wage employees follow company policies and recieve training at the required time
* Works with safety department to ensure projects are implemented
* Supports continuous improvement teams and projects
* Manages line budget ensure meeting cost targets
* Provides recognition, coaching and mentoring to the employees of the line
* Coordinated rework of tractors completed or in processes
* Provides coaching and support to Unit Supervisor II

Job Requirement:
·Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience.- University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
· Understanding of employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit.
-Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
·Knowledge of shop floor manufacturing and/or warehouse and distribution production pay systems.
-Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
· Working knowledge of the appropriate operating and information systems.
-Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
·Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities.
-Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
·Knowledge of products, customers, markets and competitors.
-Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
·Understanding of Deere Production System, Lean Manufacturing, Just-in
- Time, Kanban, Demand Flow Technology.-Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
·Knowledge of general accounting in support of establishing and managing departmental operating budgets.- Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
·Experience in a leadership role in a union environment. - 1 -3 years
·Experience with shop floor manufacturing, incentive pay systems such as CIPP (Continuous Improvement Pay Plan) and work measurement. - 1 -3 years
·Experience in budgeting, forecasting and scheduling. -1-3 years
·Demonstrated team leadership and mentoring experience.- 4 -7 years
·Experience in use of statistical tools and techniques for quality management. -Less than 1 year
·Experience with Production Control systems, preferably within John Deere. -1 -3 years
