Position: Government Relations Manager

This position will report to Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Communications, AP and work closely with business people of different business unites. This position will provide the day-to-day management of the standards for IR products in China. The position will be based in Beijing.

Responsibility:

To develop and maintain industry relations of IR with those technical experts and standard authorities in China, who may support IR business objectives, actively participate in local academic associations on behalf of IR or its business unites, involve in standards drafting, particularly green building rating standard, building energy design standards, HVAC equipment efficiency standards, (IR)and others that could impact IR business.
To identify and support priority standard/certificate issues of business units; advise information and draft plan to positively shape positions on these issues
To leverage internal and external resources on selected/critical standard drafting processes so as to advance IR's interest or at least to defend against competitors' regulatory work to put in any unfavorable conditions.
To capture all related standards or technical activities (including new and revision) and recommend tactics/actions if there is an impact/opportunity.
Work with the China business team, R&D team, environmental team and government relations team to develop plans in line with our business reality and long-term goals.
Provide proactive support to different business groups in growing their business in China (influence the Chinese authority to upgrade some standards in higher level to enhance the competitive opportunities of IR business)
Communicating with sales/marketing people to coordinate external activities, for technical and academic matters; and supporting them with directions and solutions in industry relations area.
Systematically update/manage standards contacts database and coordinate with sales/marketing people for seminars/events to promote IR technology leading image.
This person will support GR team for IR general government relations as well.

Percentage of Travel: 15%-20%
Min. Yrs. Experience: 6 years
Education Standard: Engineering or Mechanical

Requirement:
The successful candidate should be with excellent understanding of the process and existing contacts within both the provincial and central government standard authorities; demonstrate excellent knowledge of culture and sensitivities within the governments. He/she can be well connected and informed on existing technical regulations and capable of keeping the company abreast of government directions and technical regulations.
The successful candidate must be a highly energetic individual with result oriented and good communication and interpersonal skills. He/she should have strong coordination skill. He/she must have the ability and skill to build up excellent relations with government authorities and know how to get things done in China. He/she must be independent and capable of operating with minimal support and direction. As this is a new start-up, the successful candidate must be proactive and be able to roll-up his/her sleeves to accomplish tasks.

Obviously integrity is essential for the successful candidate. He/she is a team player and able to work across functions and groups to achieve objectives. He/she should be a quick learner and be able to take initiative.
Excellent oral, written, presentation skills, exceptional analytical skills, including a proven ability to deal with complicated issues of technology standards and regulations.
Engineering background and experience with the technology industry is preferred.
