The Role Responsibilities:
Pro-active Risk Management
Process Risk Analysis & Risk Register – working with Group functional TS and TBF and Group OR applies group defined process to identify potential events and agree on gross risk.
Control Design – assess ‘potential failure’ events and arrive at key controls, key control indicators, key risk indicators, control sample test parameters and determine residual risk.
Peer Risk Reviews/Risk Assurance – Schedule periodic peer reviews with a view to be ‘ever audit ready’. Leverage Group subject matter experts when necessary.
Conduct process Risk Analysis, Regular review of embedded controls and assurance framework to improve efficiency and control design towards automation and preventive management.
Review defined workflows and ensures required controls are embedded.
Risk identification, Assessment, Measurements, Acceptance and Monitoring
- Control Testing / Risk Identification- determine effectiveness of defined controls and arrive at control strength matrix and on the ground residual risk.
· Validate Business / Functions Controls - Regularly assess implementation of Business/functions Key Control Standards as defined by the business to ensure cost effectiveness, efficiency and relevance.
· Identify Control Gaps - Regularly assess all key controls against the risk profile to monitor exceptions and identify gaps
· Optimize portfolio of controls - Regularly assess existing Key Control Standards, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Control Indicators (KCIs) to ensure cost effectiveness, efficiency and relevance.
- Recommend changes to the control environment or to business practice to reduce the level of operational risk exposures.
- Escalate Risks according to the Risk Acceptance policy
- Ensure that the Operational risk processes are being followed within the Country Technology Departments in GBS IN.
- KRI Review, Analysis & Action plans – Highlighting key trends of concern.
- Challenge and recommend on relevant business activities where risks are not aligned with control requirements or risk appetite.
- EORP Maintenance/review/Cleanup – ensure information on EORP is kept up-to date. Review weekly reports by CTM/respective technology functions and take appropriate actions.
- Risk Register/Heatmap Review – review heatmap and risk registers and arrive at action plans for reducing residual risk.
- Review of Audit failure/issues/action plans – identify cross border issues, track and resolve.
- Risk Validation – Conduct a threat/stress & scenario based assessment and update risk register.
- Review open regulatory risks and assess/agree treatment plans.
Risk & Loss Reporting
- Validate the classification and accurate reporting of operational risk losses.
- Report and escalate significant operational risk events (SORE).
- Facilitate and Review Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for relevant events.
- Provide risk information/updates to functions/domains/Country / Functional Operational Risk Committee (CORC/ FORF) as appropriate.
Incident Management
Identify and define the problem (operational loss, audit failure, near miss, significant event, high severity and incidents)
Drive root cause analysis where required
Ensure that the Risk Register is updated. Agree treatment plan and follow-up for closure.
Risk Governance
Align the operational risk management approach in function/domain/ to the Risk Management Framework and oversee its effective application within GBS.
Ensure, jointly with the Business / Function that the business heads and relevant staff understand and accept their risk management responsibilities in relation to operational risk.
Ensure smooth conduct of various risk forum meetings and ensure quality / accurate updates of various OR events and initiatives.
Audit
Audit co-ordination (Group + Regulatory) – Whilst the primary responsibility for every audit will remain with the function/unit. R&C will be expected to play a critical role going forward.
Audit issue Tracking & Closure – track aging of findings and ensure periodic follow-ups. Keep local management informed of progress and ensure any delay in resolution are appropriately approved before due date.
