Essential Responsibilities
The individual needs to provide technical and leadership support to operation leaders to drive compliance, meet customer requirements, and achieve EHS excellence. This leader needs to closely connect with GE Transportation Business EHS Leader and other peers to understand the business expectation and priorities and then drive the implementation in the region. This leader also needs to work with regulators, connects w/customers, and represents GE Transportation in appropriate EHS forums in the region.
• Manages and coordinates a broad spectrum of initiatives simultaneously
• Leads, coaches, and mentors other GE Transportation EHS professionals or coordinators in the region
• Works with Business EHS team as the subject matter expert to ensure appropriate technical and regulatory competency for EHS professionals and other operational employees in the region.
• Has direct responsibility to provide expertise, guidance and coaching in all EHS areas
• Delivers in-depth knowledge of EHS risks presented by all of GE Transportation operations in the region; serves as the region's EHS expert for applicable regulatory and industry standard requirements
• Ensures EHS compliance and drives EHS risk reduction through mastery of technical defenses such as chemical elimination, ventilation, LOTO, machine guarding, fall protection, personal protective equipment and emergency response etc.
• Provides operational assistance in the event of any EHS incident in the region, including incident investigation and corrective action implementation.
• Maintains a relationship with regional EHS regulatory bodies where business has operations.
• Represents GE Transportation in regional EHS forums as needed.
• Coordinates regional best practice sharing across all GE Transportation operations as appropriate.
• Serves as a the EHS point contact/liaison for a business leader, or geographical group of sites; connects the business/sites to the correct resources within the region for specific issues and needs
• Supports all other demands as assigned

Role Summary/Purpose

The Regional Leader should have deep knowledge of local EHS laws, regulations and standards applicable to fixed facilities, service operations, and offices where GE Transportation Business operates in the region.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
• 7+ years of EHS experience with a working technical understanding of overall EHS programs.
• 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, either with direct reports or leading in a matrix organization.

Desired Characteristics

• Ability to travel about 50% of the time
• Deep knowledge of GE's EHS programs and systems
• Experience working in or across various GE subsidiaries or businesses
• Extensive experience working with industry EHS organizations
• Strong understanding of legal requirements associated with EHS issues
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or China Certified Safety Engineer
• Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and lead teams, drive change, and interact cross functionally
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with internal and external customers, and all levels of the organization
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to facilitate and conduct presentations with large and small groups
• Currently residing within China
