Introduction:  

Air Liquide is looking for a junior patent counsel to be based in Shanghai, China, who will be part of Air Liquide’s global IP team.   Today, our IP department has its main office in Paris, and is present in Frankfurt, the US, Japan and China.  We are now looking to expand to meet the increased need for local in-house support in China. 

The successful candidate will be able to handle the following aspects of IP support and advice to the local business and research functions. 

Responsibilities:

·         Performing directly some drafting and prosecution

• Conducting project-based freedom-to-operate work

·         Providing general support to the business and engineering teams in IP intensive areas, such as patent watch, patent search and review

·         Willing and able to regularly visit on site at R&D and Engineering centers in China (with proximity to Shanghai)

 

Past work experience and professional and language qualifications:

 ·         Must have passed Chinese patent bar examination, passing Chinese general legal bar examination is a plus;  

·         At least two years of working experience involving drafting and prosecution of patents, law firm experience is a plus;

·         Technical degree: Preferably equivalent to a chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or electrical engineering background from a reputable University           

·         Bilingual English/ Chinese
