As a Junior Design Engineer Product Development & Care, you will be part of the Industrial Automation Division and Business Unit Turbocharging (BU) based in Chongqing. ABB is the World leader in Industrial Automation (IA) division delivers integrated solutions for control, plant optimization, and industry-specific application knowledge and services to help process industry customers worldwide to meet their critical business needs in the areas of operational profitability, capital productivity, risk management and global responsibility. These industries include oil and gas, power, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper, metals, cement, minerals, marine and turbocharging.

As a Junior Design Engineer Product Development & Care, you will be responsible to Create and modify products during their entire lifecycle, including standard specifications for casting, manufacturing, fabrications or construction for assignments classified as low to medium complexity by applying standard design concept. Products to be designed for highly cost-competitive localized production in Asia, at ABB and external Licensee production
sites.
 
Your Tasks as a Junior Design Engineer Product Development & Care will include the following:

1. Technical Contribution:
？ Assist in designing engineering solutions, including drawings and calculations according to specification up to member of turbocharger developing projects.
？ Participate in design reviews and design verification, and modifies design as necessary.
？ Ensure highly consistent material and documentation consistency and correctness of data during the lifecycle, meaning that design modifications, Product extensions and material substitutions are conducted considering the global view, including constructive and operative master data, technical documentation, licensee-, customer and service information.
？ Member of value chain excellence projects incl onboarding process.
？ Member of IS-projects.
？ “Design to cost” input over the entire part-/product life-cycle.
？ Implementation of DCR`s.
？ Technical training “internal & external.”
？ Contact person for quality notifications.
2. Planning and Control:
？ May work under direct supervision or independently, generally delivering on predefined tasks.
？ Follow work plans and cost estimates for one’s own area of responsibility and ensure quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost.
3. Risk and Opportunity Management: Support risk assessments and implements resulting actions for one’s projects.
4. Customer: Support in preparation of specific aspects of design assignments for project meetings.
5. Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with supply chain function in preparation of required documentation for RFQs and proposals.
6. Processes and Tools:
？ Advanced level of understanding for CAD system (CATIA V5 preferred), basic level of ERP knowledge (SAP/R3 preferred) to enable efficient.
？ Use standard processes and tools applicable to one’s area of responsibility.
？ Follow the global design process. All technical decisions about the design of turbocharger parts / components are taken in CHTUS (center of excellence / single source of truth).
7. People leadership and Development: Provide support and direction for entry level drafting and document control team.

？ BSc. or MSc. in Mechanical Engineering.
？ Experience in product design in a relevant filed or engineering and in Manufacturing and Sourcing.
？ Knowledge in ERP and SAP/R3 is considered as preferred.
？ Experience in inter-divisional cooperation.
？ Good knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
？ Advanced level of understanding for CAD, CATIA V5 is considered as preferred.
？ Cultural awareness and Willing to travel.
？ Fluent in both written and oral English.
