Essential Responsibilities
• Define and develop the wind turbine model for grid simulation and optimization, support business team to clarify the turbine model question for customers.
• Participate the grid test for wind turbine, keep improving the models to reflect the real wind turbine performance.
• Interface to the compliance agency or institute, clarify GE models and related parameters, to obtain the grid compliance certificates.
• Cooperate with cross function teams within GE, eg: converter design, turbine control, ensure the turbine model align with the cross-function teams deliverables.
• Support the project team to optimize the farm to reduce the power loss in farm level, and/or reactive power compensation per the grid utility demand.
• Work with global and cross-functional teams to leverage ‘Best Practice’ for electrical testing and validation procedures.
• Preparation of design / analysis documentation, e.g. Design Practices, design record book articles, Work Desk Instructions (WDI), etc.
• Support root cause analysis on technical issues.
• Work closely with the Technical Leaders and global team members to ensure high quality and on-time delivery for all engineering assignments.

Role Summary/Purpose
The grid model engineer is responsible for the electrical model for grid utility and compliance agency. He will support the business team to clarify GE wind turbine model to the customer and grid utility, and support the grid related test and ensure our model matches the grid test like LVRT. He will also interface with GE internal teams for the wind turbine model topic.

Qualifications/Requirements
• MS in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years’ experience in wind industry with electrical model setup or simulation, applications and/or practices.
• Familiar with international and regional codes and standards for grid interconnection.
• Positive mindset with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment.
• Self-motivated.

Desired Characteristics
• Wind turbine electrical system knowledge.
• Proven experience in balance of plant design and/or optimization in wind industry.
• Proven skillset in the grid model tools like PowerFactory, PSCAD, or BPA.
• Strong analytical approach to problem solving.
• Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and execute multiple NPI program deliverables.
• Flexibility in working with peers from different time zone.
