Role Purpose:

Senior Category Manager is responsible for delivering strong commercial agreements to ensure that we are able to meet the Groups and APACs commercial goals regarding A&C suppliers. Developing a business plan aligned to the overall category strategy enabling targeted profitable growth, customer acquisition and ROI in addition to effective supplier management through delivery of the best in class offer for our customers.

Key responsibilities:


  • Support commercial value extraction from our suppliers

  • Strengthen commercial relationships with suppliers in China, including commercial terms negociation
  • Delivering the best in class category offer across your portfolio

  • Lead, develop, assess and review team resource, managing performance

  • Execute reward and recognition across your staff group including targeted training and development plans for your staff

  • Ensure we are buying the right parts at the most advantageous commercial terms, providing optimal availability of the range

  • Work closely with Inventory function to maximise availability of the product portfolio, focusing on reduction of bad and excess inventory and product provision

  • Work closely with Product Marketing to establish effectively targeted campaigns enabling customer acquisition and profitable sales whilst managing supplier support

  • Work closely with pricing to ensure specific resale initiatives are optimised through product, supplier, and market and competitor intelligence

  • Work closely with Strategic Product and Product Marketing functions to ensure NPI pace is best in class

  • Execution of category business plans

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Strong supplier management & commercial negoatiation skills

  • Team leadership experience and people management skillset

  • Business planning and execution capability across a product category

  • A collaborative team player across a business with fast moving, customer driven markets

  • Successful supplier relationship management

  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of, and the ability to articulate, the RS Value Proposition

  • Strong commercial acumen and broad communication skills

  • Educated to degree-level or equivalent

  • Coaching and motivational skillset

  • Positive can do attitude, takes ownership and very results oriented

  • Good influencing skills

  • Marketing, purchasing and inventory control knowledge

  • Operational problem solver and good process management capability

    Desirable:

  • People leadership and management experience

  • Experience of working in a matrix environment

  • Experience of working with an online digital toolset

  • Understands the needs of engineers and buyers (our target customers)

  • Experience of living and working outside of home country

  • Ability to operate in a second language
