Headquartered in Copenhagen, Maersk Procurement is responsible for sourcing goods and services in the Group, selecting suppliers and negotiating agreements. Maersk Container Industry (MCI) manufactures refrigerated containers, refrigeration machines and dry containers to our customers in the intermodal industry, which covers shipping lines, fruit multinationals and leasing companies.

To support the growth and strategy Maersk Procurement’s Shanghai-based team is looking for a Category Manager for MCI production to focus on strategic procurement activities such as:

• Leading responsible categories and project for the Group on a global scale
• Establishing and executing strategies for responsible categories
• Guiding and participating in procurement projects
• Supplier relationship management
• Negotiating commercial agreements
• Stakeholder collaboration on many different levels
• Challenging the status quo to drive innovation and optimization

As a MCI category manager, you will be responsible for managing a range of categories with a global spend of +70 m USD. You will – in close co-operation with different stakeholders, e.g. technical, commercial – be involved in creating and implementing strategies – primarily within the aluminum and FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) area that will include:

• Taking the lead in formulating and executing category strategies
• Gather and analyze business and market intelligence for strategic decisions making
• Identifying opportunities and driving procurement initiatives that generate value and cost efficiencies

On an operational level you will also be involved in:

• Tracking and managing both contracts and contract compliance
• Active collaboration and engagement with suppliers to drive cost competitiveness and performance
• Applying procurement tools and process to secure the best deal for company
• Ensuring strategic fit and risk management

The ideal candidate has a relevant educational background, 3-5 years of experience from a procurement function for technical goods and service, preferably in a multinational company within relevant industry. You have solid experience within category management and tender strategies, as well as demand and forecast management, and you have experience with managing projects.

You are a strong negotiator, who can manage multiple stakeholders. You must thrive in a dynamic environment and be a true team player with strong analytical abilities and interpersonal, and communication skills.
