Job Description
Amazon.com operates in a virtual, global eCommerce environment without boundaries, and operates a diverse set of businesses in fourteen countries, including Retail, third party marketplaces, eCommerce platforms, web services for developers.
As a member of China Compliance Operation team, we are responsible for the classification of ASINs in our catalog that can be safely stored in the Fulfilment Center’s and shipped to customer while safely meeting all local laws and regulations. We also prevent the sale of items that either Amazon chooses not to sell or are prohibited by law or regulations. In the global trade and direct import areas we are accountable for the import tariff classification and ensure imported products have had proper testing for safety and operability.
You will support the business by inferring the trade laws and classify the products to HTS code accordingly. The classification should be according to the country specific customs regulations and trade requirements. You will work directly with Amazon Operations, Trade compliance teams, Legal, and a variety of global internal businesses and outside vendors to drive import/export compliance across the supply chain.



Deliverables/ Scope

- Provide clear and accurate Dangerous Goods classification and regulation related consultation and training to Classification team.
- Ensuring that classification is aligned with Amazon catalogues worldwide and that products sourced comply with the Amazon dangerous goods management program
- Collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure Safety Data Sheets provided by vendors or sellers comply with legal requirements.
- Analyzing team classification mistakes, mentor and guide Quality lead / Process Expert to manage quality, improve process efficiency and minimize variation, conceptualize, design and deliver trainings to the team
- Work with Amazon’s Global Dangerous Goods team to execute strategy, seek automation opportunities and leverage technologies.
- Work with Amazon’s internal technology teams to develop creative and best-in-class t Dangerous Goods business processes that can scale up.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS required, majoring in Chemical or Science related specialty.
- Overall 5 years+ work experience
- 3 years+ Chemical Industry or Hazmat related work experience.
- Experience and awareness of Hazmat storage and transportation regulation
- Good English written and verbal communication skills
- Computer and Microsoft Office skills
- Strong Analytical ability
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Japanese written and verbal communication skills
- Dangerous Goods certification
- Data analysis or lean six sigma certificate would be highly preferred
