The Engineering for Field and Service team of SEE (System Engineering Elevator) work with the field organizations in all Otis entities, supply chain, manufacturing, marketing, and engineering to harmonize field metrics, installation sequences, modules, methods, and tools for the common platforms. A key objective is to ensure continuous improvement to platform designs from a field and installation point of view leveraging field data, best practices from across the world, and modern tools such as 3D designs. In addition, this team will serve as a liaison with the Global Service Systems and Components teams to ensure smooth implementation of solutions in China. As part of these efforts the team will help define criteria and identify and support the implementation of methods to simplify product maintenance. Achieving the vision of having maintenance and condition-based monitoring leveraging connected technologies in set of solutions will be part of the team’s charter.
This Technical Communicator position will offer unique opportunities to experience a wide variety of products’ field and service related information transfer across the globe as well as to gain in-depth knowledge of all Otis products.
Responsibilities:
This position is for a Technical Communicator in a product development and change management phase. Specifically, it requires a strong capability with expertise in facilitating the transfer of information (knowledge) between engineering and field/service.
Typical responsibilities are:
? Determine and align the needs of field/service of technical documentation
? Work with SEE engineers to design products easier to install on-site and maintain and thus need fewer instructions
? Organize and write technical documents for products, tailor information to related audience from field/service perspective
? Review sample in test tower and pilots on-site to ensure the technical documents are easy to be understood and implemented
? Work with Information Architect to build technical data structural for connect information in elevator system
? Strong candidates will have experience in cross-functional teams and able to translate customer requests into proactive analysis, design and test tasks
? Meet commitments with engineering teams and program managers
? Understand the special requirement of elevator codes and WWJSSS;
? Comply with UTC and company’s Ethics & Compliance Policies.
? Apply ACE Tools to daily work.
Specialized Technical Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical documentation or above.
- Ability to specify requirements
- CAD tool experience, Creo preferred
- Understanding of engineering product development processes and qualification
- Ability to test and work sensors
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software applications (including Excel)
Education/Certifications: B.S. in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or dual degree with Electrical Engineering or similar degree is required. Masters is preferred.
Experience/Qualifications:
? Minimum 5 years of experience.
? Experience in technical documentation is preferred
? Ability to creatively solve problems
? Have a high energy and passion for working with data
? Good interpersonal skills
? Excellent Chinese and English communication skills for speaking, reading, and writing
