Responsibilities
Area sales responsibility in Great China
Designated sales area
Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong
Organization
Manages complete Maag China sales team / organization for Maag branded products, predominatly polymer, extrusion, & industrial applications.
Reports directly to GM Maag China.
Reporting
Reports directly to GM Maag China (direct reporting line)
Reports to VP Sales (Switzerland) in Matrix (dotted line)
Location
- Maag China: Chenxiang Road, Jiading District, Shanghai & Century Avenue, Pudong New District, Shanghai
- Customer visits / travel required
Tasks
- Supports the sales team for Maag dedicated products (including local agents) and supports organization in its daily business
- Consults sales engineers and agents for the best technical and commercial solution (in coordination with the technical experts from Maag Switzerland and Germany, the Gala locations in Xanten and US, and Maag China).
- Promotes Maag branded products and pump solutions in all areas and applications possibile.
- Recommends to GM Maag China new business opportunities as well as adaptations in view of the organization (increase / decrease of number of staff).
- Has a strong industrial (petrochemical / chemical) background and an industrial network available
- Recommends changes and adaptations of the agents network as necessary
- Takes orderintake [turnover] responsibility for the sales area and undertakes all needed efforts to reach or overcome the proposed and signed budget (to be newly defined every year in the budget process).
- Open new field applications in the market
- Open new potential customers
- Prepare / maintain sales & marketing structure in cooperation with GM Maag China and proposes improvement in order to grow or at least maintain level of sales
- Maintain staff fluctuation to a minimum with the needed measurements and in coordination with HR
- Remain cost effectiveness of the complete Maag China sales organization
- Maintain costs within the planned and valid budget; optimise / minimize travel costs (stay within the given limits / budget)
- Plan marketing activities such as: - Exhibitions
- Symposia
Internal coordination
- Coordination locally with the area sales engineers and also with the Dover China organization
- Follow-up / control / correct sales engineers throughout the year in order to achieve set targets (order-intake, sales, margin, costs); project lists
- Coordinate technical requests / demands / trends / opportunities with the respective Product managers directly in Maag Europe locations in Oberglatt, Italy (Rozzano), Grossostheim, Xanten and also the US portion of the organization.
- Coordinate service tasks / requests / coordinates with the local service organization and/or with the service organization Maag organization in Europe and in the US.
- Coordinate sales seminars / exhibitions marketing demands with Productmanagement / BU-leaders
- Coordination with local organization’s sales controller and compliance officer
Participation in meetings
- Sales meetings within the China organization
- PM / R&D Meetings / sales conference (1-2 times per year)
Marketing Support
- Active support during exhibitions and symposia in the area and during international exhibition events
- Active influence (presentation) during symposia or international exhibitions
- Support PM’s in each filed for new field applications and commercial viable niches
- Active support / maintenance of agents network; if needed propose adaptations and changes in the agents organization (in coordination with GM Maag China).
Tasks of training
Organization of:
- Training of agents / distributors during the year
- Active training on the spot, specially for new equipment.
- Train new staff technically and commercially
- Continuous improvement/training of sales staff to advance sales effictiveness
Educational background
- Mechanical, Process or Chemical engineering minimum level BsC;
- MBA or higher education preferred
- International education or degree a plus
Commercial background
- 3-5 years experience as sales engineer / sales responsible for capital goods & industrial background
- Additional 2-3 years management experience required
Language experience
- Native Chinese
- English fluent in writing & conversation
- Further language skills appreciated
Industrial background
- Experience in the Plastics, Petrochemical, Chemical Industry is a must
Organizational experience
- Experienced to work in a matrix organization and culturally close to western culture (US or European)
- Prior experience with multinational companies preferred
Personal skills/demands
- High willingness to travel is a must
- Ability to easily build-up a relationship network with (potential) customers
