The Planning Analyst role at Caterpillar provides the opportunity to supervise and provide work direction to other team members in support of a Manufacturing Outbound Logistics and Packaging Operation.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
· Investigating alternative operational layouts and processes to provide new capacity and improve aterial flow and productivity of existing facilities
· Assisting in carrying out approved recommendations
· Assisting in writing and following up on capital projects, purchase requisition, special work orders, miscellaneous interplant transfers, surplus equipment dispositions, and a variety of other documents to procure equipment and services
· Travelling to suppliers and other facilities for information and consultation as needed
· Using spreadsheet software to perform analysis of data and presenting results
· Seeking and securing management approval for proposed projects
· Supporting the operation in directing and administering activities that support Health and Safety matters, particularly any Legislative activities, i.e. risk assessments, environmental controls and commitments
· Driving quality improvements with project teams using team building tools and general motivational techniques

Required Qualifications:

· Experience with commercial software packages, i.e. spreadsheets, word processors, data bases, computer aided drafting;
· The ability to get things done through other people - teams, suppliers, other company departments, peers; and interest in/commitment to distribution operations
· An Engineering qualification HNC or equivalent, or a degree specifically related to manufacturing or distribution operations (Material Handling, Logistics, etc.) is highly desirable but not required in all cases
