JOB TITLE: Cost engineer / Senior Cost engineer
DEPARTMENT: CE
2 E/E – CE or Senior CE (EV components as instance E-Powertrain, Hardness, Battery pack, Infotainment…)
REPORTS TO: Cost engineer Manager

Job Responsibility:

- Analyze the requirements and specification of a project and determine the cost involved to launch such a project
The Cost Engineer will support our customers to:
- Identify material cost structures and targets
- Build vehicle project’s global cost breakdown, allocate targets at module and component level
- Prepare RFQ cost targets and asses the supplier quotes

The Cost Engineer will work directly with the customer and engineering teams and will participate in the definition of targets and ensure critical cost metrics are being met. This position involves work in new vehicle product development

Specific involvement in teardown for cost reduction
- Benchmarking on major vehicle components such as Trims, BIW, D&C, PWT, EE, CHS produced by several suppliers and build the cost structure and cost of these components including the manufacturing and logistic costs, including:
- Data gathering such as Raw Material (gross & net weights, scrap credit,…), Purchased Components, Labor Costs (# of operators, labor rates), Burden Costs (equipment type, cycle times, change over time, burden rates)
- Comparing and ranking product/process costs and economic performances.
- Identifying best practices and advice the customer
- Set up initial cost sheets and provide cost targets to the development teams based on global project cost target
- Update cost sheets for gate review meetings.
- Prepare, update and track Top-Down and Bottom-Up constructions
- Perform cost variance analysis
- Manage monthly cost reporting
- Prepare RFQ budgets based on BOP’s target costs and analyze supplier’s quotes and price structure to optimize the gap between cost and price.

Qualification:
- 8 to 10 years’ experience (minimum) in cost engineering in automotive field (in the concerned module group) for a senior position
- 5 years’ experience for a cost engineer
- Knowledge of Chinese supplier and Chinese market (working experience in China is mandatory)
- Solid Knowledge of automotive design and its components
- Self-starter, motivated to make a difference, can do attitude
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English (International environment)
