Job Title Supervisor Quality

MAJOR PURPOSE:
Is responsible for achieving factory quality goals and objectives in a small unit or in a related staff area of a medium to large unit including the development and co-coordination of Quality plans and processes. Supervises salaried technicians and/or semi to highly skilled wage employees to ensure that these goals are achieved. May also supervise entry level quality engineer(s) that support the investigation of product and process quality related issues. May also supervise other functions such as environmental and/or safety. Most complex quality plans and audits.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Description of the major duties performed in this job.
? Supervises and leads the development and execution of unit/staff area plans to achieve objectives in safety, quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.
? Investigates, analyzes and resolves various system, part, people or process issues to correct deficiencies, reduce costs, improve processes/performance.
? Administers employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit. Monitors individual and line performance and takes corrective action including discipline, as needed and responds to complaints to insure the Company and employees adheres to policies, practices, procedures and work rules.
? Plans for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets.
? Manages and controls costs to stay within the department operating budget targets.
? Establishes employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance. Ensures that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job.
? Directs departmental continuous improvement plans and activities.
? Supervises the occupational safety and/or environmental management functions in a small unit. Includes the training of personnel in these functions.

? Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process. - Has a general understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.
? Knowledge of standard quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), Root Cause Analysis, Statistics. - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
? Knowledge of supply management systems, processes and practices. - Has a general understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.
? Understands the impact of quality on lean manufacturing. - Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
? Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
? Effective writing skills, including grammatical usage, persuasive copy and style. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
Education:
Formal education or training required to perform the essential functions of the job. Includes degrees, certifications, licenses and/or registration requirements.
? Degree in a Business/Management discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
? Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
? Degree in a Science discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
? Degree in a Math discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
Relevant Work Experiences:
Type and amount of experience necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. May include specific roles and/or an understanding of a particular function, organization, industry or product line.
? Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality. - 1 - 3 years
? Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing engineering projects. - Yes
? Project management experience. - Less Complex Project, consists of some or all of the following criteria: 5 or less persons on the project team; 1 or 2 disciplines involved; 1 or 2 facilities involved; scope in dollars is less than $500,000 and is determined on budget, revenues generated, savings, etc.
? Quality management experience. - 1 - 3 years
? Supervisory experience, which includes placement, work direction, coaching, and performance management. - 1 - 3 years
