Otis will build a new elevator test tower in Shanghai as part of a new global research and development facility that will be home to 600 engineers. Planned at approximately 270 meters in height, the new test tower is anticipated to be the tallest above-ground test tower in the world upon completion. The new facilities are scheduled to be operational by the end of 2018.

The new test tower, together with the R&D facility, will support development of new technologies for use in elevators for versatile market segments, delivering higher efficiency and smaller footprints, as well as superior safety, comfort and convenience for passengers. The Shanghai center will work with a global network of experts and have global exposure on assignments.

Responsibilities:
This position is for a Finance Manager in a high demand product development setting for elevator and escalator products and processes. A well planned, executed, and forecast financial outlook is a critical enabler to optimize the operations of a rapidly growing R&D engineering center to satisfy the needs for advanced innovation tools in our dynamic work environment and industry. This central role coordinates China Area activities and leverages a network of global professionals to ensure business operations run seamlessly and continuously improve performance for a demanding innovative engineering site.

Typical responsibilities are:
? Timely completion and oversee the maintenance of fiscal records and the preparation of financial reports to ensure the correct declaration of financial books and report.
? Ownership of the product benchmarking process, develop training for should cost
? Execute all month end close / reporting activities and analytics including leading the accruals process, planning and communicating month-end timelines to the team, and understanding key business drivers to provide variance commentary.
? Lead the forecasting planning process for operating expenses, headcount, and capital expenditures. Develop a good understanding of the business to identify key risks and opportunities to management. Manage and coordinate planning activities with engineering and operation team for the strategic business plan, and annual and monthly forecasts.
? According to the financial rules and policies of UTC and Otis, collect and input data to system for financial closing timely and strictly, as to ensure the accurate declaration of financial books
? Develop solutions to resolve accounting discrepancies and other financial problems/issues.
? Provide Financial assistance for decision making in timely manner, incl. ad hoc reporting.
? Take lead role in developing and updating annual engineering budget plan, and monthly latest estimation for engineering team in RHQ entity
? Partner with Engineering to manage costs and monitor capitalization, research capitalization discrepancies and delays. Perform fixed asset cycle counts compile reporting of actuals
? Develop/maintain project management tools like EVMS, Time tracking system, etc.
? Review staff expense reports, contracts, and payment requests as financial control.
? Review and conduct NPP process and travel authorization process
? Help institutionalize the concepts of costing and financial analysis by providing training/guidance to all levels of management and staff
?Ensure the implement and maintain sound financial policies and procedures in accordance with UTC IAC & SOX Requirements

Specialized Technical Skills:
- Education/Certifications: Bachelors or above in Accounting with Engineering background would be a plus.
- 5 years or above working experience with MNCs including +3 years experiences in senior accounting / controller position, familiarity with R&D and manufactory operation in China.
- Strong budgetary, projections, and cost control skills.
- Systems aptitude (JD Edward or other ERP system, Hyperion, and PC skills).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software applications (including Excel)
- Excellent communication and team skills required.
- Ability to creatively solve problems and communicate with engineers
- Have a high energy and passion for working with data.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Excellent Chinese and English communication skills for speaking, reading, and writing
- Self-motivated and able to handle pressure
