Caterpillar is seeking highly motivated individuals that have graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree and have some working experience, to participate in an 18 to 24 months marketing trainee program.
You will receive extensive training, coaching, and hands on learning via a rotation program through various departments. The program will focus on product application, policy warranty settlements, technical and product repair, dealer development, communication skills and related disciplines.
Generally you will learn to administer company policy warranty settlements and work with Service Specialists to ensure dealers have technical capability to identify and repair product deficiencies. You will also assist dealers in managing Product Improvement Programs cost effectively and within designated timeframes; as well as provide technical guidance and assist in dealer presentations designed to inform customers of service advantages.
At the successful completion of the graduate program you will be placed in a permanent position as Field Technical Service Representative in Caterpillar's Business-to-Business based distribution system.
REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in this position, you will have a Mechanical Engineering Degree with 2 to 3 years working experiences preferable in construction machinery industry. You will need excellent communication and technical skills with a strong customer focus. You will also be open to challenging and new experiences with the ability to travel and relocate.
JOB DUTIES:
This position allows the incumbent to complete the Marketing Training Class and developmental assignments including bedrock, dept and factory rotation and deep dive assignment.The incumbents will receive guidance and direction from the Supervisor, on-site supervisors and other staff personnel in completing assigned projects. The incumbents will be expected to contribute to the division's objectives with emphasis on developing skills and experience in objective setting, project planning, deadline responsibility as well as implementation and follow-up methods. The incumbents will learn these skills by working within the various divisions in the areas of:
Sales Development - Analyze sales opportunities; develop product comparisons; review pricing practices, product improvement programs, new product information releases, competitive information releases, various communications media, etc; and make product presentations.
Marketing Support - Analyze company's trade advertising as seen in news service articles, publicity and product literature. Assist senior staff in advertising campaign researching and field story development, understand company trademarks, etc. Become skilled at the development and execution of dealer sales seminars regionally involving product, application and salesman skills. Also assist in developing and producing sales support material on product, competition, application and support programs.
Technical Support - Learn the company policy warranty settlements administration and learn from service specialists on dealers technical capability when identifying and repairing product deficiencies. Assist and understand the dealers Product Improvement Programs.
The incumbents will rotate thru the above areas in their developmental phase and may be selected for special assignment at a dealer location to gain additional experience. Time in developmental assignments will vary according to an incumbent's performance and upon completion of the development phase and subject to an in-depth performance/potential appraisal, they would be considered for a promotion to a higher SG class position in one of the marketing sales areas.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
Requires an engineering or marketing degree or the equivalent. The incumbent ideally have 2 to 3 years previous marketing development, product support or construction and infrastructure related experience.
