Job Description
Amazon.com operates in a virtual, global eCommerce environment without boundaries, and operates a diverse set of businesses in fourteen countries, including Retail, third party marketplaces, eCommerce platforms, web services for developers.
As a member of China Compliance Operation team, we are responsible for the classification of ASINs in our catalog that can be safely stored in the Fulfilment Center’s and shipped to customer while safely meeting all local laws and regulations. We also prevent the sale of items that either Amazon chooses not to sell or are prohibited by law or regulations. In the global trade and direct import areas we are accountable for the import tariff classification and ensure imported products have had proper testing for safety and operability.
The team that you will work is responsible to ensure that the imported products have been tested in certified laboratories and that you will comply with the legal requirements of the importing country, to take appropriate actions in order to protect customers from recalled or unsafe products and also, to classify products based on their potential hazardous risk and laws.
Deliverables/ Scope
Amazon Compliance Operations team (C-Ops) is looking for a smart, energetic, hard-working, and creative candidate to join our team. The successful candidate shows excellent judgment and instincts in decision making and proactively and continually improves their level of knowledge about Amazon’s business, its platform, and relevant technologies. This is an exciting and challenging position that provides Product Compliance support as a Subject Matter Expert contributing to Amazon’s successful adherence with worldwide product and consumer safety requirements
Applying SME level knowledge of Canada regulations, to create disruptive and innovative solutions to product testing and compliance. Inventing and simplifying processes and requirements to enable vendors, and supply chain to expand selection and availability globally.
· Manage complicated cross-functional projects focusing on compliance regulation
· Develop best-in-class processes and systems, and drive continual improvement.
· Drive scalable business solutions which ensure compliance with consumer product regulations
· Communicate technical regulatory requirements to non-technical stakeholders
· Work cross-functionally and manage compliance training and awareness raising programs in operations teams.
· Work with Amazon’s Global Trade Compliance team to execute strategy, seek automation opportunities and leverage technologies.
· Work with Amazon’s internal technology teams to develop creative and best-in-class trade compliance business processes that can scale up.
· Indirect people Management (knowledge support role, advisory role, )
· Management of quality standards of document review process.
· Mentor and guide Quality lead / Process Expert to manage quality, improve process efficiency and minimize variation, conceptualize, design and deliver trainings to the team
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree required with a scientific focus.
· 3-5 years of experience with import/export consumer product safety compliance program management and in-laboratory experience.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent English and Chinese written and verbal communication skills
· Strong experience with global regulatory requirements such as: CPSIA, FDA, FCC, FTC, EPA, CCPSA, EN 71, RoHS, WEE, CE mark, Profeco, IEFTL, China CIQ, FDA TC etc.
· Knowledge of product compliance processes and the interplay with global supply chains
· Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done
· Must be able to think creatively and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
·Previous experience in tech, textiles environment, electronics, consumer goods, or other fast-paced, technology driven businesses a strong plus.
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
· Strong presentation and training delivery experience.
· Key Competencies: A-Z process ownership; deals well with ambiguity, functions well and is able to clearly define processes in loosely structured situations; comfortable with following up on actions from others and closing the loop.
