Job Description

    Act as the point of contact to government trading agencies such as Customs, AQSIQ, CIQ to communicate and influence trade policy and regulations as well as to mitigate compliance risks.
    Build and develop the strategic and trusting relationship with China government trade agencies to oversee, monitor, and interpret the import and export regulations of China.
    Identify and analyze the trade regulations development and trend to support strategic business decision of cross-border programs.
    Attend the external public conference and seminars organized by trade associations or organizations to build the network and benchmark in the industry and trade world on behalf of Amazon.
    Deliver strategic insight and organize the training on trade policies to educate and enhance the compliance awareness of business.
    Provide guidance and inputs to help develop and optimize the process, Operation Manual, etc. to guide the cross-border transactions.
    Support the response and resolution with Customs audit/investigation on Amazon import programs to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
    Work with Amazon’s Global Trade Service team to execute strategy, drive common processes, seek automation opportunities and leverage technologies.
    Work within China GTS team to support other trade compliance programs like classification, valuation, bonded operation, broker management, etc. to ensure compliance with China trade regulations.

Basic Qualifications

    Strong knowledge of general China Customs and import/export laws and regulations, and China Customs policies and procedures.
    Familiar with China Customs organization, hierarchy, internal and external working mechanism.
    Diplomatic communication with government officers to address the case clearly with focus.
    Strong business sense with excellent trade-off in working.

    8+ years of experience in trade agencies or associations, or similar experience with strong expertise and background in trade compliance.
    A mix of compliance and program management experience.
    Sound understanding of China Import and Export Regulations.
    Excellent interpersonal skills enabling communication with professionals and people in various levels, and to operate effectively within a team environment.
    Strong analytical and computer skills.
    Experience in developing and implementing cross functional processes and procedures.
    Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese.
    Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

    Experience leveraging technology and data mining to drive process improvements.
    Working experience in trade agencies with senior or medium level rank.
    Experience with Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement tools.
    Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
    Ability to turn complex compliance requirements into scalable processes.
    Ability to work on multiple concurrent tasks and projects.
