POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of product designs and design changes under the direction of the Production Manager. Primary duties include designing custom orders, detailing and documentation of new and modified product designs and other functions necessary in the design and manufacture of ESGA Products. Assist in lean manufacturing and six sigma principals. Work with BOMs, drawings, the engineering change process, the product development process, product specifications, and product literature for ESGA products. Additional duties include providing technical assistance to end users, distributors, customer service personnel, and salespersons as well as interfacing with customers to obtain Voice of Customer input for new and existing designs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
? Detailed drawing and model creation of new designs and modification of existing United States designs for China and export market.
? Working with the Production Manager, ESGA, implement product development activities, work closely with purchasing, materials, and operations to ensure that ESGA offers the best products at a competitive price and does so in a timeframe that meets customer expectations.
? As part of a team, develop new and modified products for future production. Work with internal and external sources to ensure these designs are robust and meet current and future customer needs.
? Assist production personnel with engineering questions to aide in production.
? Assist in managing the document control procedures through the existing Quality Management System (QMS).
? Work with Manufacturing Engineering by using feedback on engineering processes and standards to contribute in assuring that world class warranty levels are achieved.
? Champion process/product improvement initiatives through six sigma process projects.
? Play an active role in the development of new products through the use of design for manufacture; assembly and serviceability methodologies using a platform approach to product designs customized using configurable options.
? Understand manufacturing variability issues and work with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Maintenance to reduce or eliminate variation in manufacturing processes.
? Work with Manufacturing Engineering to Develop cost reduction projects.
? Perform a technical support role for daily plant operations by assuring that product performance parameters are met.
? Provide technical assistance for salespersons or end users via phone, fax, or email.
? Act as a key point of feedback for engineering processes and standards to assure that world-class warranty levels are achieved.
? Perform engineering calculations and analysis to verify viability of designs.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
? Based out of ESGA facility in Haimen, Jiangsu, China.
? Ability to obtain a passport and travel within and outside of the People’s Republic of China.
? Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
? Must have good oral and written communications skills.
? Previous successful leadership experience.
? 5 years experience minimum in a manufacturing or engineering discipline in a heavy manufacturing environment and employing DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly).
? Training and experience in Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, Creo or similar software is required.
? Pro-E Mechanism or Mecanica experience are desired skills.
? Knowledge in both Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering process.
? Proven track record of employing a product development process and project management skills to lead a cross functional team in the execution and launch of design changes.
? Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
? Must exhibit strong problem solving skills such as 6-Sigma or another structured methodology.
? Knowledge of punch tooling working principles preferred.
? Knowledge of Metal cutting, forming and welding processes preferred.
? Working understanding of AC and/or DC electrical circuits / electro mechanical components and medium pressure hydraulics systems is a desired skill.
? Understanding of simulation analysis (i.e. FEA) of materials / structures would be given special consideration.
? Ability to communicate in both written and spoken English. (Minimum of CET 4)
? Travel – 25% mostly within China
