Major accountabilities:
1. Accountability 1 Sales
Analyses client specifications and quotes focussed on costs in order to advise sales in value selling.
Exp: What extra features are included in the scope of design and delivery in comparison with competition, that can be seen as extra selling proposition.
2. Accountability 2 Presales
Analyse pre design concepts and client specifications and participate and advise in the pre sales process (assist in building a business case until gate2) in order to ensure selection of the most cost optimal design balancing cost and needed budget (investments + resources).
3. Accountability 3 NPI
Participate in the new product introduction process in order to monitor / control the implementation of cost efficient design solutions in the final design
This can be achieved by using the knowledge acquired in topics 5,6 and 7.
4. Accountability 4 LCM
Participate in the core team activities, in order to advise design changes to increase cost efficiency of designs
This can be achieved by using the knowledge acquired in topics 5,6 and 7.
5. Accountability 5 Value Buying
Assist strategic purchase in value buying.in order to assess suppliers pricesetting / quotes.
6. Accountability 6 Cost reduction idea capturing
Organise and conduct cost reduction workshops; channel the ideas to the right technological fora for further investigation or implementation, follow up on the progress of investigation and implementation in order to introduce new material applications, processes
7. Accountability 7 Strive for standardisation.
Make an analysis of differences in concepts for the same function related to cost, discuss the findings with the stakeholders involved in order to come to an agreement to embed the lessons learned
in a design guide line.
8. Experience and knowledge sharing
? General engineering knowledge : understand a technical drawing, the functionality, the design process
? General knowledge about supply and production processes and parameters that drive the cost in design
9. Team management / influencing others
? Ability to come with proposals and drive discussions between the involved stakeholders

Education level: Engineer
Years of relevant experience in area XYZ:
- 5 years in an operational or engineering environment
- Experience with value engineering
