We are currently helping one of our global clients in looking for a Head of Technology, who needs to look after 2 IT divisions (infrastructure and architeture), and together with global teams to expland the business scope.

Reports To: Head of Distribution Technology, Asia Pacific


Purpose of the Role

A member of the Asia Pacific Technology Management team, this role has responsibility for Asia Pacific regional software delivery, testing and support groups based primarily in Dalian, but that may also include other potential locations, partners and methods that best fit with evolving solution delivery and skillset needs.

Through the leadership of our senior delivery managers, the candidate will oversee high-level resource and organisational direction; source and grow high performing talent; build upon understanding of Company’s businesses and key stakeholders to align plans with business direction; and foster strong team relationships with global and regional technology counterparts to maximise software delivery effectiveness across geographies.

The role also has a matrix functional oversight of the Dalian Technology Infrastructure team in order to promote strong collaboration, teamwork and integration between delivery and infrastructure groups and to further drive a culture of agile delivery, automation and devops practices.

The candidate will also play a role in driving Asia Pacific’s engagement in strategic global initiatives that target the evolution of major agenda items such cloud, analytics, automation and big data. The role therefore demands knowledge of the latest technologies and practices, and a commitment to innovation and automation whilst retaining a constant focus on maintaining our secure and sustainable technology environment.

The candidate is expected to display professional ethics in their approach to work and exhibit high level leadership and strong communication skills within a dynamic, global working environment. As the most senior technology representative in our Dalian office, the role is also an ambassador for the location, through representation within global technology management discussions, by providing updates and presentations to visiting senior management and through a proactive contribution to local office activities.


Key Responsibilities

? Leadership of APAC software delivery –
？ Maintaining a primary objective to provide high quality, timely delivery of technology solutions
？ Setting a location and team agnostic approach to delivery so that we maximise reuse of global solutions and teams and consider the best locations/practices/partners to deliver upon business needs
？ High-level resource management, ensuring that plans anticipate future business and technology needs and that we maximise mobility of resources between groups
？ Ensuring active management of staff performance and the growth of key talent

? Oversight of the Dalian Technology Management team, fostering close teamwork between all Dalian technology groups and setting goals and driving progression in areas such as agile practices, automation, continuous integration, devops and practical cloud utilisation.

? Partner closely with technology peers to strengthen technology and business teamwork across geographies to effect strong, agile cross-location solution delivery

? Function as a technical thought leader, interpreting and influencing strategy and objectives as a member of the Asia Pacific Technology Management team

? Actively develop key talent in the local senior management teams and beyond; communicate across groups to keep staff aware of wider department and company developments; and work closely with HR colleagues to drive a forward-thinking training and development agenda for staff

? Drive innovation into the working practices of the Technology teams – leverage external partnerships with the education sector, the FinTech ecosystem (startups and accelerators) and other firms to implement new approaches to solution development

? Participation in key strategic global initiatives, driving engagement in areas such as cloud, analytics and big data

? Be valued as a key leader in the Dalian office, through demonstration of strong values and leadership-by-example, by positive representation of Technology to senior visitors and by making a proactive contribution to local office activities


Experience and Qualifications Required

? Senior IT leader with least 10 years of management experience, including leadership of software delivery teams
? Experienced in working effectively within a global, multi-location organisation with multi-location systems development models
? Experience of cloud-based delivery models (SAAS, PAAS)
? Strong technology background with a demonstrable understanding and involvement in the adoption of contemporary technology practices, trends, tooling etc., ideally including Agile and Devops practices
? Strong decision making and strategic planning skills
? Proven leadership and organisational skills
? Good understanding of business goals and customer focused
? Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; keen attention to detail
? Accomplished bilingual (Mandarin/English) verbal and written communicator and presenter
? Financial Service Industry experience is highly beneficial
