Description
The product engineer – Long Fiber Thermoplastic Product Engineer(abbreviate: TP PE) is the key technical contact point with OC’s customers. (S)he is responsible for gathering and maintaining the Fitness For Use (FFU) of our customers and for anticipating on customer needs. The TP Engineer is accountable for driving customer satisfaction from technical aspect, insuring that the product delivered by OC always meets customers’ requirements. In case of gaps between product’s performance and customer needs, the TP PE has to propose and implement the needed corrective actions.
The product engineer will provide support to global customers through coordination with the Global product engineer and Global Market segment leaders. (S)he coordinates product plant trials and supports products commercialization according to NPI procedure.
? Product engineers are also the key technical people on projects such as transfer of products from plant to plant and new product industrialisation. (S)he will manage the product qualification process at customers and follow up the products performance at customer side
TP PE will coordinat/lead internal trials and be responsible for external problem solutions.
The Product Engineer will be a member of the China CTSO team and directly reports to the China CTSO Leader.
Responsibilities:
1. Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.
Provide leadership in safe working practices, promoting safety awareness and performance for self/Team and others in all areas of responsibility to achieve full compliance with site and company standards and guidelines
? Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries.
? Live the Safety Stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities
? Draft a personal safety action plan and deliver on all commitments
Metrics:
? Implement a personal safety action plan
? Safety metrics –first aids, near miss, BBS,JHA etc.
2. Knowing Our Customers/markets
Collect, analyze and share information concerning customers and market needs:
? Partner with the China sales and new business development (NBD) teams, identify the need for new applications and products for existing and new market segments based on competitive and market trends and support the multi functional team in the implementation.
? Work with AP S&T center and CI to coordinate development of new applications and products.
? Build broad and deep relationships with key customers to understand their business and facilitate understanding of their FFU.
? Translate customer critical to use (CTU) into product characteristics and support the plant to create adequate procedures.
? Identify opportunities at customers to deliver values.
? Co-work with China commercial team to generate deep insights about China customers need and bring values to customers.
Metric:
? Lead LPT to improve time to market
? Meet the products quality/Tracking objective;
? Gather and maintain the effective FFU/CAS of customers;
? Solutions to customers;
3. Coordinate projects in the organization
?
? Use a data driven and CI approach to improve product quality and plant capability.
? Coordinate the product/process model to set expectations on quality and process capability to ensure FFU.
? Leverage the utilization of our mimic labs for product testing and building knowledge of our customer processes.
? Partner with the S&T and Sales team;
? Co-work with YH operational/Project team to improve products quality, maintain products quality consistency and plant capability;
? As a member working with team to make tolling products successfully; DUCS,MER,T30 products would be covered as necessary;
Metric:
? Coordinate products sampling preparation in China to customers;
? Regularly follow-up the products quality consistency based on customer feedback, conduct thorough analysis to create the case on products improvement solution;
? Exactly case on supplier development;
? Solutions on Complaints/Claims to customers from operational investigation and cowork;
? Lead LPT
? Number of qualifications delivered and products commercialization;
? SKU management;
4. Support imported product and, manage quality data on imports:
? Be the main interlocutor of our abroad and, act as the interface between those plants and our customers
? Maintain the quality data flow with the exporting plants via our systems and warehouses
Metric:
? Claims resolution (8D completion) to customer from the manufacturer;
? Certs delivered to customers
4. Maintain Documentation
? Develop and keep technical documentation on products, customers and markets
? Elaborate and update product data sheets.
? IP policy implementation and audit
Metric:
? Documentation availability;
? IP audit results
Job Requirements
Experience:
? Bachelors of Science degree in thermoplastics polymer engineering or related discipline;
? 3 years experience in operation or technical product/process discipline at minimum;
? Rich experience on fiber glass manufacturing preferred;
? Experience in engineered LFTPA,LFTP, CFRT etc.
? Experience with various productions processes such as:
o Pultrusion;
o Injection
Knowledge and Skills:
? Knowledge in automotive market processes
? Chemical or material science engineering knowledge
? Composites application materials knowledge
? Glass manufacturing knowledge is beneficial
? Basic understanding of Continuous Improvement tools such as 5S and Six Sigma
? Project management knowledge
? Industrial marketing knowledge
? Good computer skills utilizing tools such as Microsoft outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a basic knowledge of SAP.
? Strong capability in communicating and connecting with customers and delivering value for customers
? Fluency in Chinese and English, both spoken and written.
? Ability to travel up to 75% throughout China, possibly international.
