Position: Senior Manager - Credit Risk

The Senior Manager has primary responsibility for underwriting and managing a portfolio of commercial loans to technology and life science companies across multiple assigned geographies.

1. The SENIOR MANAGER is responsible for maintaining appropriate risk rating assessments on all portfolio credits and for oversight of the loan origination activities of relationship management personnel in designated lending teams, including guiding lenders throughout the negotiation and documentation process to assure that all credit agreements meet the bank’s compliance requirements.
2. This position therefore includes the responsibility of significant delegated loan approval authority. In collaboration with sales leaders and credit partners, the SENIOR MANAGER will help develop strategies to meet organizational goals for revenue growth and national target market expansion while simultaneously mitigating credit risk effectively.
3. The SENIOR MANAGER manages client relationships via collaboration with account management personnel, and is expected to anticipate client needs and recognize opportunities to cross sell.
4. As a senior leader within the organization, the SENIOR MANAGER will also engage in a variety of activities to enhance the bank’s brand and visibility within target market segments, which includes the necessity of traveling for internal and external business functions.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:


Senior Manager at this organization is highly skilled financial engineers, negotiators, and expert business advisors. The successful candidate will demonstrate mastery of industry best practices for underwriting cash flow and working capital loans to mid-market technology and life science companies, particularly those that do not have institutional investor sponsorship. The bank relies on the SENIOR MANAGER to possess a deep understanding of the capital markets, broad knowledge of developing trends in target market segments, to oversee complex transactions, and to manage an extensive network of business contacts, including the executive management of client companies.

1. Expert knowledge of commercial bank products and services is required.
2. The experience necessary to perform this function typically requires 15 or more years in the financial services industry, ideally including 10 or more years as a credit officer or in a closely related role.
3. Highly developed sales and negotiation skills are required, along with an exceptional talent for verbal and written communication.
4. An educational background with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in finance or equivalent related experience. (MBA will be an advantage)
