PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Trade Compliance Leader is responsible for leading an effective compliance program that enables global trade (import and export) and effective controls for Owens Corning. The position must understand global trade, North American government regulations, and Owens Corning internal controls. This position requires an exceptionally strong attention to detail along with the ability to communicate effectively across multiple organizational levels and provide training to those levels as needed.

The Trade Compliance Leader collaborates with business leaders and professional in various organizations including customer operations, carrier relations, logistics, sourcing, legal and finance to ensure regulatory compliance and drive effective controls. This position supports the Roofing and Asphalt, Insulation and Composites businesses.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

TRADE COMPLIANCE POLICY AND STRATEGY
? Develop and lead trade compliance policy and strategy
? Partner with other functions to integrate compliance strategy into their work streams
? Seek value creation through tariff strategies, duty drawback, free trade agreements, other trade programs and maximizing efficiency of transacting international business

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT IN TRADE COMPLIANCE
? Serve as a subject matter expert in trade compliance
? Advise and support businesses, suppliers and customers on import and export compliance matters
? Keep informed on regulatory changes and communicate these changes to stakeholders

SUPPLY CHAIN SECURITY
? Lead effort to evaluate participation in and compliance with regional supply chain security programs (i.e. C-TPAT)
? Lead supply chain risk assessment and mitigation strategies

COMPLIANCE CONTROLS AND AUDITING
? Review existing and as needed develop new internal controls to ensure trade compliance
? Lead internal audits to evaluate effectiveness of trade compliance internal controls
? Generate performance metrics for export and import processes

COMPLIANCE TRAINING AND DOCUMENTATION
? Develop and implement training and certification programs for employees on import and export compliance requirements
? Lead compliance program initiatives to standardize work through the creation of compliance manuals and standard work procedures and documents


SUPPLIER AND EXTERNAL PARTY EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT
? Act as primary interface and manage relationships and agreements with freight forwarders and customs brokers
? Participate in qualification, selection, and compliance monitoring of logistics and material suppliers
? Lead programs for restricted party screening

CLASSIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION
? Determine and review HTS and ECCN product classifications and country of origin
? Direct activities related to preparing, obtaining and maintaining required documentation for import and export transactions (i.e. FTA certificates of origin, import/export licenses)

GOVERNMENT AGENCY POINT OF CONTACT
? Act as primary interface and manage relationships with government agencies
? Direct and coordinate governmental, regulatory and compliance reporting


JOB REQUIREMENTS


EXPERIENCE:
List the preferred relevant work experiences (e.g. years of experience, type of experience, industry preference, education) that someone coming into the role should possess.
? 5 years relevant experience in logistics, trade (import and export) compliance or a related field
? Undergraduate degree required; advanced degree (i.e. MBA) preferred
