Position Summary

This role is primarily responsible for providing uninterrupted flow of material to manufacturing, while at the same time achieving inventory and cost targets. Coordinates activities involved with procuring materials, components and equipment.

Responsibilities
● Reviews requisitions and MRP output.
● Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.
● Orders, reschedules and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output.
● Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery and inventories.
● Manages supplier to price, delivery and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
● Proofs invoices for payment.
● Expedites delivery of goods to users.
● Analyses inventory levels. Prepares liability reports for excess and obsolete management.
● May gather quotations, examine bids, negotiate contracts and make awards.
● May plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle.
● Interfaces with suppliers and customers to secure both delivery and the best market price.
● Makes tactical buying decisions. Executes corporate sourcing programs and purchasing high dollar parts.
● Maintains procurement records, reports and metrics
● Prepares and/or reviews bid requests and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
● Estimates values according to knowledge of market price.
Desired Skills and Experience
● Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Supply Chain Management.
● Typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of procurement experience.
● Use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: telephones, word processing, data entry, spreadsheet (PC), ERP software.
● Proven ability to research and apply critical information to evaluate product and conduct cost analysis for competitive pricing and positioning.
● Ability to present data and analysis in an organized, clear, and concise manner.
● Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
● Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures.
● Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
● Excellent problem solving skills.
● Must be comfortable working with cross-functional teams to achieve a common goal.
● Familiarity with lean principles and JIT environments.
● Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
● Ability to maintain highest ethical & professional business conduct.
