The Health and Safety Sustainability Security and Compliance (HS3C) Global Trade Services (GTS) team helps deliver hundreds of thousands of items each day, obsessing over the import and export compliance requirements so that our customers, vendors, sellers and internal businesses can reliably send and receive a broad range of products, equipment and software. Our business customers are Amazon Retail and special internal programs (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Lab126, Amazon Robotics, and affiliates). Global Trade Services consists of two operational areas:
cross-border trade compliance
direct imports product compliance

Note: This position is based in Beijing.
These are the responsibilities of the Trade Compliance Manager:
· Work with Amazon’s Global Trade Service team to execute strategy, drive common processes, seek automation opportunities and leverage technologies.
· Conduct pre/post entry compliance reviews and interface with company personnel, brokers, and relevant government bodies to determine correct tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, preferential program status, etc.
· Drive scalable import and export solutions with Transportation, Kindle and AWS to ensure compliance with China Trade Regulations.
· Ensure Amazon complies with China import and export regulations.
· Manage and resolve trade compliance issues within the region, and implement corrective actions as required or disputes with Customs.
· Evaluate and improve current import and export compliance processes through self-assessment or working with intenral or external stakeholders.
· Manage Amazon’s broker in China to ensure compliance, speed and cost effectiveness.
· Monitor the development of China Customs and trade regulations and provide risk/impact assessment to business at early stage. · Develop import and export compliance guidelines and processes in China.
Basic Qualifications
8+ years of experience with import and export compliance, preferably with 1-2 years logistics experience.
A mix of compliance and program management experience.
Excellent expertise in regulation requriement and operation practice of China bonded operation (bonded manufacturing like e-book for processing trade, bonded warehouse operation and bonded zone operation).
Sound understanding of China Import and Export Regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling communication with professionals and people in various levels, and to operate effectively within a team environment.
Strong analytical and computer skills.
Experience in implementing cross functional processes and procedures.
Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Chinese.
Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements.
Broker Certificate or Classification Master Certificate.
Experience with Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement tools.
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.
Ability to turn complex compliance requirements into scalable processes.
Common sense, great judgment.
