Job Description
Flex is hiring a buyer for a new business that focuses on construction and building materials. This individual will help manage supplier price, delivery and quality expectations; plan, schedule and monitor material and inventory movement. Working with minimum supervision, this role must have an entrepreneurial attitude with a high level of energy and resourcefulness, embracing accountability over multiple KPIs. The new hire will help grow this exciting "start up" within one of the largest Sketch-to-Scale solutions providers in the world. As such, the
buyer may be asked to take on supply chain responsibilities outside their core role. This position reports to the Supply Chain Lead in Nanshan, China.
We expect the individual to have a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution with at least 2 years of experience in a related field. Other requirements include a highly interactive communication skillset with both internal stakeholders and supplier partners, proven experience driving all KPIs in a timely manner, and strong planning skills.
Principle Accountabilities include:
1. Orders, reschedules and cancels material based on requisitions and MRP output
2. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule
3. Manages supplier to price, delivery and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate
4. Approves invoices for payment
5. Analyzes inventory levels; prepares liability reports for excess and obsolete management
6. Makes tactical buying decisions consistent with business sourcing programs and strategy
7. Conducts quarterly supplier reviews
8. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price
