Intertek is a leader provider of quality and safety solutions for many of the world's leading brands and companies.
Intertek operates about 1,000 laboratories globally and is currently deploying a new Laboratory Management Information System (LIMS) solution based on the ThermoFisher SampleManager package. This system forms the back-bone of Intertek’s LIMS strategy and will be rolled out to a large number of laboratories globally as part of a Strategic programme, with an initial focus on China.
It is also understood that the team will need to possess some form of knowledge of the end-to-end solution used by the lab processes (quoting – ordering – lab execution – reporting – billing) in order to understand where issues might reside and in order to address or direct issues to the right teams or people.
To support the system, an application support team is being created. This team is expected to scale up as the roll-out of the solution takes place across China.
The team will manage:-
? End user support – taking on queries, providing guidance or training, taking on requests for changes
? Methods management – requests to add new methods, requests to change existing methods – working in a global environment where methods are organised globally to ensure quality and consistency and avoiding unnecessary duplications
? Instruments management – connecting new instruments, supporting existing instruments integrated to the LIMS – working in a global network to ensure a global inventory of instruments is maintained to promote re-usability
? Troubleshooting – understanding the source of the issue (application, other applications, local or central infrastructure, etc.)
? Liaison with other supporting teams: product team, development/delivery teams, other application teams, infrastructure & operations.
Key Responsibilities / Deliverables
? 1.Supports users of the ILS system: receiving and understanding issues, handling service requests, providing guidance or training
? 2.Troubleshoots system issues – understands issues or difficulties and finds out the reason for the issues, resolves the issue or liaises with other teams to assist. Drives towards the resolution of the issue
? 3.Understands system interfaces to/from the laboratory system (with other applications, or with instruments) and is able to understand the reason for problems or where enhancements are requested
? 4.Integrates new instruments to the LIMS, working closely with the global team in particular to follow global standards and ensure a global catalogue of instruments is maintained
Experience & Skills
?1. Experience of the laboratory domain – understanding of workflows, key success criteria for a lab to operate efficiency and with high quality. While the focus will be on the lab system (SampleManager), the person will need to have a good understanding of the end-to-end flow and of the supporting systems.
? 2.Technical skills to be able to support instruments integrated to the LIMS and be able to create new integrations
?3. Attention to detail, ability to produce quality work and to show both a sense of initiative and ability to follow stated processes
?4. Experience of ThermoFisher’s SampleManager product is desired, but if not existing training will be provided
? 5.Ability to communicate orally and verbally in English
? 6.Ability to work in a global environment and closely working with overseas teams as necessary
