Role:
Following recent change of APAC organisation structure and moving instrumentation sales from UK to APAC, an opportunity has arisen for a Sales Engineer, qualified in mechanical/electronics to degree level (or equivalent) to join our China Sales within the instrumentation group. This is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible team player to join a world class company in China. The successful candidate will be expected to work on a range of products and immediately engage into a commercially driven and multi-disciplined team.
Responsibilities include:
* Develop and implement strategies and action plans to achieve the goals of the assigned territory.
* Grow the present as well as new customer base in order to drive entitlement for the business in assigned territory with good initiatives.
* To co-ordinate and submit monthly forecast updates to assist with operational and financial planning
* To continually review the performance of distributors with quarterly business reviews and where necessary terminate existing channel partners and appoint new ones
* To ensure all customer contacts, opportunity reports and call plans are recorded in Salesforce.com and provide statistical information for the monitoring of brand results
* Support the sales activities of the distribution channels by providing sales and technical expertise & applications proficiency to sales network.
* Organize & conduct training sessions with the distribution channels to optimize product exposure to end-users and ensure appropriate support is provided to the distribution sales organizations.
* Participate in regional exhibitions and perform presentations at applicable workshops/seminars.
* Demonstrate instruments to customers, with distributor personnel, as appropriate.
* Maintain knowledge of competitive activities, market trends and customer purchasing practices and ensure communication of these activities to the marketing department.
* Maintain a database of distribution management personnel, sales staff, key prospects, key accounts, and key contacts within the territory.
* Assist in the training of new personnel, maintain a high level of cooperation with existing employees, and foster a customer-focused, team-based approach to meeting customer needs.
These are the main functions of the role; however, employees may be required to carry out other, ad hoc duties, as may be reasonably required.
Person Specification
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
* 2 - 5 years regional sales working experience in Southern China with experience in instrument markets.
* Must have experience manage and lead the performance of channel/distributors.
* Must be fluent in both English and Mandarin.
* Prior experience of developing and maintaining relationships at various levels with multi-national organizations
* Must be prepared to travel extensively. Travel of 50% required.
* Professional and personal ability to deal with a high degree of latitude and responsibility.
* Proactive, result-oriented and highly skilled in terms of relationship management, communication and persuasion.
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident polite and efficient telephone manner.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively.
* Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills.
* Comfortable in being able work alone and/or within a team environment, contributing and sharing best practices, resources and ideas in order to continually improve the customer experience.
