Role:
Following recent growth of the Elektron service business, an opportunity has arisen for a Service & Support Engineer, qualified in electronics to degree level (or equivalent experience) to join our very busy service department within the instrumentation group. This is a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible team player to join a world class company at our Asia Pacific Service operation in Shanghai. The successful candidate will be expected to work on a range of products and immediately engage into a commercially driven and multi-disciplined team.
Responsibilities include:
* Set-up of new instrumentation workshop to enable service and repair of instrumentation brands.
* Onsite & In-House Service, Repair & Calibration of the instrumentation product range.
* Travel within Asia Pacific Region will be expected to carry out duties on customers' site when required.
* Occasional travel within Europe and ROW
* Pro-actively sell service packages, by promoting Instrumentation Service offerings to the customer base; this will involve visiting customers and making presentations of the benefits of the packages.
* Report faults and design issues to the QC & R&D Managers as required
* Test and Validation of Instrumentation products using a wide range test and measurement devices.
* Preparing service quotations
* Complete all necessary documentation and administrative requirements, including data input onto the database (IFS)
* Maintain service records
* Technical support backup by phone and e-mail
* Customer Support & training
* Assist in the development of process control measures to improve and enhance department efficiency and profitability.
* Assist in continuously monitoring KPI's/SLA's against objectives and where necessary take immediate remedial action to address any underperforming areas.
* Provide a detailed monthly report on Service activities against agreed targets.
* Support all works and job administration to ensure an efficient process, including parts administration.
* Coordinating with Operations, Servicing and Marketing functions, where appropriate, and monitoring development within the Service area in order to ensure effective responsiveness to client servicing needs.
* Providing financial analysis and estimates related to plan implementation.
These are the main functions of the role; however, employees may be required to carry out other, ad hoc duties, as may be reasonably required.
Person Specification
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
* Alongside Chinese, good spoken and written English language skills
* Proven experience of working in a field service, repair & calibration environment.
* Experience of effectively liaising with business customers and delivering to tight service level agreements;
* Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a confident polite and efficient telephone manner;
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
* Ability to manage time and multiple tasks effectively;
* Interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate orally and in writing, including good customer service skills;
* Motivated individual who is flexible and willing to learn continuous best practice;
* Ability to demonstrate initiative and positive attitude;
* Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills;
* Comfortable in being able work alone and/or within a team environment, contributing and sharing best practices, resources and ideas in order to continually improve the customer experience;
* Ability to effectively manage customer relationships, promptly responding to queries; ensuring promises are kept with the ability to confidently manage expectations;
* Have the ability to work to set standards and procedures;
