1. Position Summary
In support of customer desires and requirements for flawless new product launches, zero rejects, and zero warranty returns, the Quality Engineer will perform advanced quality functions required in new program development. This role will be the initial point of contact for resolution of all quality issues and warranty claims with assigned customers, responsible for driving to resolution as the voice of the customer. In fulfillment of advanced quality responsibilities, the CQE must be intimate with customer technical specifications requirements. This detailed knowledge will be used for:
? participating in Product development/APQP teams;
? participating in FMEA’s;
? applying statistical methods;
? design review;
? knowledge of gages and fixtures;
? following through the development phase to review all testing results and ensure successful PPAP submission and product launch.
 
The CQE will support the customer directly and hands-on. This includes ensuring analysis, containment and corrective action resolution response is carried out and is effective, whether related to any zero mile or warranty quality. The position may include occasional supplier or manufacturing plant location audits in the pursuit of excellence. Reports to the QM and Customer Service.
Specific Tasks include, but are not limited to:
? Own the Quality role per the RASIC throughout the product development (Engineering) process.
? Analyze and process customer non-conforming product and communicate with PM, QM, customer and the rest of the organization as needed.
? Analyze, disposition, and process notices of customer warranty
? Drive effective corrective action and product improvement tied to 0-mile and warranty throughout the company.
? Develop 0-mile and warranty reporting and analysis. Send to QM and customer as needed.
? Manage all GCN quality inspection, quarantine, and rework planning for assigned customers
? Participate with product design reviews, as well as the creation of design FMEAs and design validation plans as needed.
? Participate in the creation and review of the control plan and ensure that checks, poke-yokes, and effective final testing and process capabilities are in place.
? Participate in pre-launch: Track all physical product received at GCN and review with management and APQP team as needed.
? Participate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams in on-going improvement projects
? Provide a professional level of leadership for all team members.
? Develop customer quality performance related presentations as directed by management.
? Maintain a high level of communication and follow through with the customer and within the company.
? Serve as an Internal Auditor and assist the organization with improvement in the Quality System.
? Ensure projects maintain compliance to customer and other requirements through the PPAP process.
? Irregularly visit domestic customer on site for study and fix quality issue.

2.0 Position Specific Requirements

Education: Bachelors Degree or Associate Degree with on the job experience or eduction or industry certifications.
Experience: At least two years experience working in an automotive or commercial vehicle OEM, Tier 1, Tier 2 environment on customer quality related challenges.
Specific Skills/Training: Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with the customer and internally about quality concerns. Ability to communicate in a multi-cultural environment. Ability to drive a multi-cultural problem solving team.
 
Technical: Able to read blueprints, use inspection and measurement tools, understanding or experience with manufacturing of electrical as well as plastic injection molded components and assemblies. Basic understand of statistics, with a strong understanding preferred.
 
Quality Improvement: Experience with corrective action techniques in an automotive, TS16949 environment. Very familiar with various automotive corrective action formats such as 8D and how to make them effective. Familiar with root cause analysis, FMEA, MSA, control plans, capability studies, as well as standard quality tools.
