Job Description:
MaxLinear is looking for a highly motivated, self-driven Systems Application Software Engineer with extensive decoder/networking/device driver knowledge in software areas. The candidate will use their technical expertise, interpersonal communication skills in collaboration with other departments to:
? Support MaxLinear product development:
? Support Software development and maintenance of drivers, APIs, applications, and GUIs.
? Develop and execute software test plans and generate test reports.
? Generate product collaterals and customer support documents including application notes and user guides.
? Work with other Engineering teams to improve product reliability, quality, and product experience.
? Collaborate with regional Sales and FAE teams to secure design wins and strengthen relationships with key customers and strategic partners:
? Communicate and clarify software specifications and system requirements.
? Demonstrate and present technical seminars at customer sites and trade show events to facilitate MaxLinear product evaluations
? Support and track customer design, bring-up, validation, and debug activities.
? Provide product and technical trainings to regional Sales and FAE teams.
? Conduct technical market intelligence studies to support Marketing:
? Perform feasibility studies on new product features
? Support Marketing team to define new products and roadmap
? Conduct competitive intelligence studies and analyses

Requirements:
? BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
? Minimum of 5 year experience in development, testing, maintaining and releasing software in C/C++ programming language.
? Familiarity with tuner, demod, decoder, and networking devices at the system and application level.
? Strong understanding of Linux programming interface.
? Experience with programming for Linux kernel.
? Solid knowledge of DMA, interrupt, I2C, SPI, and ETH protocols
? Experience brining IC products through NPI into high volume production.
? Familiarity with test equipment operation: logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, network traffic generators, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
? Assertive, customer focus, persistent, and ambitious to achieve targets
? Self-motivated with great sense of responsibility
? Ability to work well and learn quickly under pressure in a fast pace environment
? Ability to handle multiple assignments by applying project management and prioritization skills
? Aptitude for customer interaction and attention to detail
? Ability to manage both technical and business related challenges
? Preferred Experience:
? Understanding of microprocessor and system-on-chip/Computer architectures (SRAM, ROM, Bus)
? ATE development based on VBA, LabVIEW, or Python.
? Familiarity with IP and network monitoring protocols such as SNMP and RMON
? Experience developing software in RTOS environments
