POST: GARMENT Sample Room / Development Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO: Operations Manager
LOCATION: Great Eagle, PingHu, Shenzhen
JOB OVERVIEW:
The post holder will be an employee of Rubies Masquerade Limited based in Shenzhen China, responsible for managing the production and quality of company samples (design, fit, factory handover, and sales) to strict deadlines.

OUTLINE OF MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Responsible for managing an in-house team of merchandisers, sourcing, pattern maker and sewers.
? Weekly design/product development progress meetings with the UK design team to discuss and plan current and future planned design projects.
? Receive and review design/product development projects from the UK /China HK design team with the in-house team.
? Plan and organize workload with in-house team, set priorities and ensure deadlines are met.
? Through daily liaison and weekly progress meetings, ensure project timelines and design guidelines are adhered to. Ensure issues are resolved in a prompt manner and where permitted, agree new target dates with the UK/China HK office.
? Identify, analyze and propose solutions to daily design project issues.
? Where possible advise the best cost effective routes/techniques for product development, construction and manufacture.
? Review, manage and support all sample room departments (merchandising, pattern development, and sewing) to ensure the flow of work is smooth and bottlenecks eliminated quickly and efficiently.
? Review, monitor and plan sample room capacity on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Where necessary, and when agreed with the UK/China HK, ensure staffing levels are managed to support the capacity demand. Recruit additional staff as and when agreed by the Operations Manager.
? Monitor, analyse and review department accuracy and performance (no. of samples manufactured vs target set, no. of samples rejected vs agreed design vs quality, no. of samples dispatched on time etc.)
? As and when requested develop other internal sample room procedures eg fabric/trim library, product development files containing complete product development history, design sample “library” etc.
? Manage sample room budget and invoicing; eg. materials purchased (fabrics, trims, packaging, printing, plastic accessories), sample set up costs eg print screens, moulds etc., staff costs (full time and temporary)……
? Carry out yearly performance appraisals with in-house team.
