职位描述
Responsibilities:
- Work with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to improve and develop new technical capabilities and fundamental understanding of adsorbent media including, but not limited to, carbons, silica gels, molecular sieves, and their treatments and applications.
- Fostering innovation and intellectual property generation through material research and development aligned with the business Product Strategy Models and collaboration with Core Technology and key external suppliers.
- Develop advanced characterization and analytical techniques to assess and understand material properties and prototypes in accordance with business strategy and industry trends.
- Determination of product and material Fitness-For-Use (FFU) and specification creation.
- Utilization of engineering and project management skills to drive complex projects to completion.
- Set project direction and scope
- Determine project milestones and action plans
- Build fundamental understanding
- Concisely communicate progress
- Bring project to closure in a timely fashion
- Apply scientific understanding to solve complex technical problems
- Creation, execution, and analysis of experiments utilizing statistical methods.
- Hands-on design, construction, and testing of prototype devices
- Provide technical support for new material supplier evaluation and qualification.
- Documentation of your work with reports, technical notebooks, presentations, quality system documents.
Requirements:
- MS or PhD in engineering. Preferred degrees include Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of material or new product development experience, applications engineering, OR an advanced technical degree is required.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Champion complex technical projects starting with project scope & milestone definition through project completion review.
- Validate and commercialize new materials and technology.
- Network and influence in cross-functional teams.
- Effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects across numerous product platforms.
- Determine a strategic approach to problem solving including project scope, milestones, and action plans to achieve a Technical Feasibility Point (TFP) and project completion.
- Knowledgeable in adsorbent chemistry and properties, and mass transfer phenomenon in porous media
- Awareness of external technology development.
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of designed experiments, statistical analysis, project management, and project leadership (for small, cross-functional teams).
- Ability to transfer knowledge to other engineers through good documentation practices and training skills.
- Willingness to travel periodically (up to 10%).
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Desirable Job Qualifications:
- Knowledge in hard disk drive industry preferable.
- Contract manufacturing experience valuable.
- Experience or coursework in porous materials preferable.
- Experience or coursework in engineering, science, and/or product development in a corporate environment.
