The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the HKSAR Government in 2000 with a mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness in technology based industries through applied research. Owing to the continuous expansion in our R&D activities, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

Job Duty:
Lead / conduct applied research and development in Big data analytics and Cloud computing technology.
Design and implement BDA solutions.
Conduct software testing and QA.
Support and mentor junior engineers.

Requirement:
Bachelor of Science/MS/PhD Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent expertise)
3+ years of software development experience in systems development using Java and J2EE. Candidates with less experience will be considered as Engineer.
Strong knowledge and experience with distributed system or multi-threaded applications;
Experience in RDBMS operation and programming (SQL/JDBC/JPA/Hibernate);
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Experience in REST application design and implementation is a plus;
Experience with Hadoop and MapReduce is a plus;
Experience with agile software development methodologies and frameworks such as SCRUM, Test-Driven Development, is a plus.
Excellent command of English, fluency in Cantonese and Mandarin is a plus.
Self motivated and fast learner

Appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical and dental benefits, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work under a five-day week schedule.
