职位描述

Position summary (mandate of the incumbent, key objectives)

Under the direction of the Commodity Manager China & Emerging Countries, the Sourcing Manager will assist the division to run more efficiently. In performing the outlined duties the Sourcing Manager will play a critical role in the overall success of the company fulfillment and business model. The Sourcing Manager will positively impact the bottom line, contributing to the organization’s stability and growth, as well as position the company as the ‘’must have brand ’’ for foreign supplier partners. The Sourcing Manager will lead and drive execution of supply chain strategies in a collaborative environment to achieve both tactical and strategic goals, including serving as an expert in influencing, leading and driving project implementation of supply chain strategies and development of short and long term goals for management consideration. In this role, the Sourcing Manager will be responsible to develop and execute competitive sourcing and supplier strategies of the company business in China, analyze emerging market supplier potential, elaborate go-to strategies, manage risks and drive procurement optimization, action/initiatives that will result in optimum key performance and cost-reduction results.

This is a dynamic, evolving role in which the Sourcing Manager will work with the Commodity Manager, Director Supply Chain, China quality team, the procurement team and cross-functional teams comprised of R&D, Product Marketing & Plant Operations.

Primary responsibilities

1. Develop a supply base in China and in emerging countries to deliver and achieve corporate strategic objectives and performance indicators, including but not limited to quality, cost, flexibility, sustainability and sourcing

2. Establish and implement regional strategies to be incorporated in overall corporate procurement and sourcing strategy while achieving sustainable relationships with suppliers

3. Assess and manage the company Corporate & Supply Partner Code of Conduct with suppliers

4. Manage commercial relationships with suppliers: business terms and conditions, price negotiations, commitment to purchase, price of non-compliance, value-added services, performance and expectations.

5. Build and maintain strong mutually beneficial relationships with key suppliers and internal customers.

6. Influence suppliers’ manufacturing processes, technology decisions and policies by working with suppliers’ technical team and the company Quality team in ways that are mutually beneficial and sustainable for both organizations

7. Drive supplier performance, contract effectiveness, collaboration and integration. Deliver improved results with key partners

8. Conduct supplier workshops to identify annual cost saving opportunities and manage the activities to achieve the established cost reduction goal so as to drive the company’s competitive position.

9. Develop and solicit RFP, analyze submissions and form recommendations, evaluate and qualify suppliers and develop executive summaries for review with the appropriate leadership team members for approval.
10. Ensure sourcing processes and supplier contracts deliver maximum quality, at service levels and/or price points that meet business requirements, including supplier capacity management.

11. Apply statistical-based methodologies (including Six Sigma & lean manufacturing tools)

12. Implement quality and cost improvement programs and ensure alignment on key strategic initiatives and objectives

13. Lead the design review and risk assessment activities with the company Quality Team and suppliers to recommend and establish mitigation plans

14. Interface with cross-functional teams on new product development sourcing strategy and implementation, optimize material selection to maintain lowest cost, predictable availability and industry leadership in quality. Manage the implementation phase of new products with suppliers in collaboration with the company Quality Team and Corporate cross-functional teams from tooling kick-off to mass production while managing risks.

15. Act as resident expert in assigned commodities in regional business matters (ie: local regulations, logistics etc).

16. Keep current with key political and economic developments as they relate to global commodity markets

17. Use analytical and qualitative methods to analyze industry trends, commodity drivers and evolving technologies to proactively identify supply base issues/opportunities to support commodity strategy and minimize risks, protect continuity of supply and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit the business.
18. Lead weekly supplier and project status review meetings
19. Support the the company Quality team and Procurement Team in North America to drive resolution of supplier technical issues impacting performance/ delivery
20. Ensure priorities are handled effectively by establishing and modifying plans and actions to enable work to be completed efficiently
21. Support special projects with an important potential impact on a business segment or plant.

Professional Skills/Qualifications

1. Minimum level of education and/or specialization:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain.
· Commodity management experience is an asset.
o Minimum: 8 years experience in procurement, manufacturing operations, strategic sourcing with Chinese suppliers


2. Specific skills and requirements: (competencies critical to the incumbent’s success)
· Must be bilingual (written and spoken): English & Mandarin being primary language of work
· Good knowledge of China, Chinese supply base, market, business culture
· Experience working across cultures, teams and time zones with ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Willing to work varied hours to accommodate headquarter in North America. Ideally, should have prior working experience with North-American companies and their business culture
· Proven project management skills with ability to deliver results on time and on budget
· Strong autonomy and self-motivated
· Able to work under pressure in a fast paced, ever changing environment to meet aggressive deadlines
· Attention to details, well organized
