The Electrical Engineer will provide engineering support on new and existing designs to meet the increasing demand for ESI products. Typical electrical engineering tasks include pure digital design, pure analog design, mixed signal design, power electronics design, and design of control elements. The electrical engineer will provide support in system integration including signal interfacing and isolation, electromechanical integration and control, laser systems integration, and board level design for necessary system components. BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering is required. The Electrical Engineer will have basic analog and digital circuit design capabilities and experience with industry schematic simulation and visualization tools, (examples: OrCad, Altium, Pspice, Xilinx and Altera design tools, and Synplify Pro). Exposure to various computer languages and operation systems including C/C++/C#, .NET, Windows, and Unix is required.

Core required technical skills:
? Engineering fundamentals (Physics, Calculus, Problem Solving)
? Experience with modern digital and analog design (Printed Circuit Board Assembly design, FPGA’s, Data Converters, Power Supplies)
? Ability to program in a language that microcontrollers or embedded processors use (C or C++ language preferred)
? Ability to test and troubleshoot using tools of the trade (Oscilloscopes, debugger utilities, logic analyzers)

Preferred technical skills:
? Knowledge of optics, lasers, Electro-optics, electromechanical systems, power electronics, and controls theory is a plus
? Simulation experience
? Ability to program in a hardware descriptive language (Verilog and VHDL)
? System modeling – i.e. How do you go from physical presentation to mathematical expression or from mathematical to physical?
? Experimental design
? Ability to hypothesize, test, i.e. scientific method
