E-Waste and Recycling Program Manager- Asia-Pacific Region

Location: Beijing or Shenzhen, China

The MSC Safety, Compliance and Sustainability Team has an immediate opening in Beijing or Shenzhen, China for an Environmental Compliance Program Manager responsible for recycling, reporting and take-back programs for the Asia Pacific region. Are you ready to join a dedicated compliance organization in one of the world’s best software, consumer electronics and entertainment companies? This position will report to the E-Waste and Recycling Lead in Microsoft’s Safety, Compliance and Sustainability team.

Responsibilities

- Function as the electronic, packaging, and battery recycling specialist for Microsoft in the Asia Pacific region.

- Track and influence electronic recycling regulations.

- Gather local/regional requirements, implement recycling programs to meet mandatory requirements. Make recommendations and implement voluntary initiatives.

- Register and report to government agencies and compliance organizations.

- Participate in regional industry groups’ related to electronic product and packaging recycling.

- Set strategy for region and advise Microsoft management on matters relating to the recycling of Microsoft hardware products.

- Feed recycling considerations back to the Environmental Compliance Engineers for new product designs.

- Manage recycling partners and vendors ensuring their compliance with Microsoft and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

- Exception organizational skills. Experience managing multiple deadlines and creating reports with accuracy.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing Asia-Pacific e-waste and recycling regulations in consumer electronics.

- Experience setting up and maintaining product take back regimes.

- Affinity for finance, budgets, and reporting.

- Demonstrated excellence in using Excel and ability to write and review agreements, open Purchase Orders, and track budgets. SQL database experience preferred.

- Track record of being an enthusiastic and effective team player influencing internal and external resources to ensure successful outcomes.

- Very strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in speaking and writing in English.

- Prefer Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Science or other related subject together with a good understanding of the electronic and packaging recycling industry and regulations.
