Job Responsibilities:
1. Contributes to development, implementation and management of multi-year sourcing strategy, mitigates risk while delivering world class product quality and service levels
2. Effectively contributes to building and executing a robust Allocation strategy, considering supplier performance, Product needs, etc
3. Builds and maintains- current and future macro scenario for all key sourcing locations for REI – covering economic / geo political / environmental / labor, etc
4. Builds and aligns Supplier Capability Tool, with strategy to work on the gap between needed and existing capability.
5. Leads the selection of new vendors and associated onboarding functions as assigned
6. Drives implementation of company programs, business requirements, policies and best practices to vendor partners
7. Effectively builds, aligns, communicates and coordinates all performance matrix’s – Balanced scorecard. Internal and external performance indicators.
8. Provide benchmark information of industry best practices and global trends for currencies, commodities, labor rates, etc.
9. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and drives change
10. Drives recruiting and hiring of top talent and manages training of direct reports

Skills & Requirements:
1.Technical background with strong knowledge of material and garment construction (gear construction a plus)
2. Experience working with vendors in Asia and South/Central America – including vendor selection, price negotiations, manufacturing best practices, driving to performance expectations, logistics.
3. Intimately familiar with industry standard cut/sew based manufacturing methods/processes, quality expectations/procedures and compliance regulations. (hard goods a plus)
4. Proven ability to influence/drive and implementation new processes and procedures to improve partnership, performance and support market opportunity/risk.
5. Proven ability to build strong and aligned partnerships between functions operating remotely (Asia office, HQ).
6. Good communication skills, with individuals and large groups, enabling effective management of challenging situations in multi-cultural environments
7. Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts.
8. Creates a strong, mutually supportive work spirit and culture where people can do their best.
9. Establishes trust and inspires others.
10. Makes effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with REI's values and ethics.

17. Strong Computer skills in excel, word and necessary systems needed.
