Summary:

This position requires a highly motivated and energetic individual to manage strategic sourcing initiatives for suppliers and poteintial suppliers. This will include developing plans and strategies for optimizing the supply chain & supply base across multiple plant locations and develop / negotiate contractual agreements. The Sourcing Manager will act as a leader for implementing sourcing strategies, providing an uninterrupted flow of quality materials and components to global manufacturing and logistics locations along with introducing new models, products and features on a timely basis. Provides leadership to develop, support and implement cost and quality improvements to meet business objectives and will serve as a primary liaison to a multiple of assigned product development groups.

Requirements:

·Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience

·5+ years purchasing/planning experience

·Ability to speak and read Japanese and English.

·Ability to verbally translate Japanese to Chinese and Chinese to Japanese.

·Ability to read and clearly understand specifications, prints, or schematics.

·Experience in the implementation of “best practices” and “world class” processes

·Requires a high level of detail and analytical skills

·Excellent computer skills, knowledgeable of a variety of software systems, Microsoft Office

·Capable of generating accurate reports for reliable information to be used in key decision-making processes

·Strong communicator; possess excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills

·Be able to travel 40-60%.

·Experience in an ISO 9000 manufacturing environment

·Demonstrates success within a metrics based organization

·High technical aptitude for electronics, electro-mechanical, or casting / precision machining

·Previous experience with transitioning internal manufacturing to outsourcing contract manufacturing suppliers

·Impeccable integrity with the highest of standards in all professional and personal relationships

Key Responsibilities:

·Develops and implements procurement strategies and long-range business plans while meeting aggressive annual goals in conjunction with partner functions, e.g. Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, etc.

·Negotiates and manages moderate to high dollar, high impact agreements for direct (in the end product) materials or indirect (goods & services)

·Participates and develops commodity annual price negotiation strategies with suppliers and resulting business awards

·Interacts with production floor to plan & schedule daily production requirements

·Organizes, manages, and leads project teams interfacing with all levels of management and cultures.

·Works with decision makers and assists in setting and accomplishing fiscal goals, including development of long range strategic and business procurement plans for assigned commodities

·Extends lean principles into supplier base and is a participative member or team leader in the TQM process

·Acts as a team leader in complex projects including: formulating project plans, RFP (Request for Price) / RFQ (Request for Quote) preparation, supplier selection, contract negotiations and supplier management

·Participates in development of work definitions, leads groups to explore alternative approaches to ensure desired supplier performance and develop contractual language to reflect company’s best interests

·May provide work direction to other buyers and/or administrative personnel

·Manages mainly project work with translation responsibilities.

·Functions as department commodity consultant advisor

·Thorough understanding of global contracting requirements and managing direct and indirect suppliers/commodities

·Manages the supplier selection process for projects with significant outsource content

·Applies collaborative and “buy-in” skills to work with cross-functional teams to assess and qualify potential supply partners to optimize total acquisition value

·Maintains and ensures departmental compliance with ISO procedures

·Leads or participates with the formal assessment and qualification of supply partners
