Major Responsibilities:

1. Be in-house expert and manager of Asian EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Service) suppliers for a mixture of OEM and ODM business.

2. Advise and liaise with company’s various design engineering departments as to how to maximize designs for manufacturing is Asia and minimize component MOQ liability through common component usage.

3. Develop and maintain sourcing strategies / supplier selections to accommodate high volume / low mix as well as low volume / high mix product lines in a manner that minimizes cost, maximizes on-time delivery and minimizes PPM.

4. Develop supplier profiles for both existing and potential suppliers comparing purchasing metrics such as price quality and delivery, but also including supplier capabilities such as engineering abilities for OEM design maximization, engineering ability for ODM products, existing product lines for private label, etc… in a clear and concise manner.

5. Interact with overseas purchasing, engineering, marketing, operations, and finance departments in the coordination of project-related activities. Organize and hold meetings with business unit delegates regularly to discuss and solve supply chain issues, product issues and collaboratively develop overall strategies for commodities, suppliers and sourcing.

6. Coordinate and facilitate tasks necessary to complete projects within a designated time frame (quotation request, sample and specification transmittal, cost analysis, product development, product launch, etc...)

7. Act as liaison for developmental, technical, cost, and quality communication related to foreign-designed products.

8. Work with overseas based supply chain departments to identify leverage opportunities for low-cost sourcing.

9. Develop, maintain and communicate tracking and reporting tools as appropriate on a regular, frequent basis.

10. Facilitate world class practices within the Asian supply base toward the goals of reduced inventory, reduced lead times, 98%+ supplier on-time-delivery and zero defect quality levels.

11. Travel domestically within Asia and international when necessary to bring issues to closure.

Requirements:

1. Requires knowledge usually acquired through a 4 year degree in business, purchasing, operations, or technical equivalent, in addition to appropriate work experience of 5-7 years in a manufacturing related business or technical discipline.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years sourcing from and managing Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) companies.

3. Must have a proven track record in strategic sourcing.

4. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to function collaboratively in a team of peers and influence others through technical presentation and data analysis.

5. Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.

6. Experience and working knowledge of processes involved in purchasing and inventory management systems. Previous participation in a Kan Ban program and/or cost down teams preferred.

7. Fluent Mandarin speaker with excellent English written and verbal communication skills (Spanish, Portuguese, or Swedish would also be a plus).

8. Cultural sensitivity/experience working with other business groups internationally (US, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and Sweden).

9. Strong team and project management skills to facilitate or champion a project, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

10. Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a cross functional fashion with all companies, departments, and employee levels in the organization. Resilient, determined and able to work under pressure.

11. Ability to analyze data, be resourceful, and initiate proactive timely, well-thought-out decisions.

12. Comprehensive knowledge of automotive PPAP procedures and requirements (QS9000, TS16949) is a plus.

13. Ability to grasp and resolve technical issues.

14. Must have knowledge of agency testing and approval procedures such as UL, CE, CCC, etc...

15. High degree of ethics and personal conduct.

16. Must be able and willing and able to travel internationally by air/boat/bus/auto to remote sites as required.
