Brief Summary:
The Manager, Supplier Relations is primarily responsible for planning and directing activities in order to maintain optimum efficiency and maximize profitability of business operations.
Essential Functions:
? Acts as liaison with Inventory Management and other Company business units including Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales and R&D to ensure appropriate evaluation of corresponding purchase decision-making. Confers with department representatives to determine product purchase needs and determine appropriate vendors from whom to make purchase
? Directs and coordinates promotion of existing products purchased or manufactured
? Monitors vendor’s compliance with performance metrics including delivery performance, product quality and pricing
? Performs technical evaluation of vendors’ products to ensure accuracy of required specifications and purchase volume availability
? Recommends replacement or elimination of poor suppliers
? Reports to direct manager and/or appropriate department representatives of findings, determinations and recommendations regarding purchasing decisions; develops organizational policies and goals in coordination with these activities
? Works with Purchasing Department to manage vendor base
? Communicates with subsidiaries and Manufacturing to assist in maintaining catalog product in stock.
? Improves existing catalog product delivery; works to reduce product costs and improve customer service
? Attends Company meetings and acts as Inventory Management representative as warranted
? Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
Required Skills & Abilities:
? Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
? Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
? Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
? Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Ability to evaluate and comprehend product specifications. Ability to access, retrieve, update and review files utilizing Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word software. Ability to utilize general office equipment with limited instructions including photocopier, facsimile machine, and standard calculator
? Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent; and (5) five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination or education and experience. Technical knowledge related to product line required, optics background preferred
