The China Controller will have the day-to-day management, accounting/finance, controllership and government regulation responsibility over our China locations. The China Controller will manage the local accounting team to provide financial and accounting support to the President of ESI-China, sales, corporate, research, and manufacturing activities. This role will report to and regularly interface with the Asian Controller located in Singapore and the U.S.-based corporate accounting team to support the goals of providing oversight to ensure the China entities are meeting all government audit/tax/compliance requirements, as well as corporate requirements for accounting and finance, as well as internal control areas subject to compliance with U.S. SOX.

The accounting/finance responsibility includes (but is not limited to) the following: oversight of the GL closing process to ensure the books are closed timely and accurately each month, including review of balance sheet reconciliations, monthly operating expense analysis and issue identification and resolution. Additionally this position will be involved in cost accounting matters and process issues along with responsibility for local SOX/internal accounting control requirements. This position will be relied upon to assist the U.S.-based corporate accounting department to proactively improve efficiency in the accounting close, reconciliation and operation processes, accordingly strong English skills (written and verbal) are a must. Additionally, the China Controller will liaise and partner closely with local operations to address and resolve process and reporting concerns or other issues and assist with business development activities.

The China Controller will directly manage one to two staff and will be responsible for oversight of annual financial and statutory audits and ensuring timely completion and accurate reporting. Additional administrative tasks may be assigned to help ensure the local offices operate smoothly.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Demonstrate strong technical accounting knowledge related to local GAAP and good understanding of US GAAP including foreign currency accounting standards
- Demonstrate ability to manage and work with auditors efficiently to meet annual audit reporting requirements
- Demonstrate strong cost accounting and manufacturing environment knowledge and working experience
- Able to liaise with local Tax authority
- Be able to communicate clearly in English in both verbal and written form
- Demonstrate ability to work with cross-functional organizations and provide valuable input to the business and operation teams
- Demonstrate ability to be a good business partner and strong desire and ability to team with the Asia Controller, President of ESI-China, and U.S. based corporate management teams

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 6-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance management, including manufacturing and cost accounting
- Experience in dealing with local tax authority and experience with a US multi-national corporation (and public company) strongly desired
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP and good understanding of US GAAP
- SAP experience required including cost accounting, general ledger and Trade AR/AP modules, etc.
- Experience with U.S. SOX strongly desired
- Advanced PC skills including experience using a fully-integrated financial system
- Must be fluent and very comfortable speaking in English and able to communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
