Reports To: Chief Global Commodity Manager

Position Summary

The Global Commodity Manager is the lead commodity sourcing person for all AMES companies. This position sets the strategic sourcing plan for the responsible commodity. The Commodity Manager works with the Commodity Specialist to make sure the commodity plan is consistent. This position also sources products and materials from suppliers to ensure best value on cost, quality and delivery standards, for all AMES companies. This position works closely with various internal departments (Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, Marketing) to ensure that current and prospective suppliers are meeting the needs of the organization globally.

Job Experience Requirements

·Has a working understand of western retailor direct import programs

·Has sound manufacturing knowledge of metal and plastic fabrication, painting and assembly

·Understands new product development processes

·Understands western standards of fit/finish and quality

Major Responsibilities

·Sources goods and services for the AMES companies (imported raw materials/finished goods), ·Ensures the best value for the company by searching out the best supply options available and improving margins through cost control/reduction

·Negotiates contracts and agreements with suppliers, distributors, and other organizational entities

·Assists with the development of blended sourcing strategies

·Identifies new suppliers, processes, and products to assist in the development of new products

·Acts as company representative in regards to supplier relations

·Works with production facilities to develop supplier/factory relationships

·Does material hedging to ensure best value.

·Studies and analyzes the market and general market conditions to ensure that materials (forward buys) are sourced at competitive prices.

·Mentors Global Commodity Sourcing Specialist

Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education Requirements

·Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or related field is preferred

Relevant Work Experience

·5-10 years in Sourcing or related field

Competencies

·Able to speak, read, and write English

·Strong PC skills including the Microsoft Office Suite; primarily Excel and Word

·Working knowledge of SPC, VAVE, MRP and TQC

·Knowledge of LEAN principles, manufacturing practices and processes

·Ability to grasp and understand business concepts and issues

·Ability to maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail

·Ability to assess multiple tasks and develop a plan to complete them in a logical and efficient manner

·Ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach

·Ability to skillfully negotiate in such a way that creative solutions are developed to satisfy all parties

·Ability to develop and communicate goals in support of company goals

·Ability to delegate responsibility and to work with others while coaching them to develop their capabilities

·Ability to anticipate the implications and consequences of situations and take appropriate action to be prepared for possible contingencies

·Ability to analyze, develop, and propose strategies that will help the organization be more effective, competitive, or otherwise achieve its goals

Certificates/Licensure

·CET6 or TEM8

Travel Requirements

·Able to travel to local and international locations
