Title: Design Manager Asia
Reports To: Senior Manager Asia Product Design & Development (PDD), Dotted Line to Vice President PDD

CST is searching for a Design Manager Asia that is energized, self-motivated, and prepared to work in a fast-paced and growth driven environment.

Key Requirements
? 4 year university degree in product design or industrial design from a qualified university
? Minimum 5 years’ experience designing furniture and/or lighting products
? Experience with product photography and photo editing
? Ability to lead and develop a product design team responsible for creating new furniture and lighting conceptual designs, 3D renderings, assembly instructions, sample photography, etc.
? Broad and extensive capabilities to create innovative, but ultra-cost competitive product designs for furniture and lighting categories
? Fluency in spoken and written English. Spoken Mandarin Chinese preferred.
? Wide ranging technical knowledge of metal and wood furniture and portable lighting including constructions for both categories
? Highly organized with strong task follow-up capabilities.
? Extensive design software skills including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, and/or Form-Z
? Strong inter-personal and communication skills
? Continuous learner
? Understands and applies the concept of teamwork
? Comfortable with periodic travel to supplier locations in Asia including China and Vietnam
? Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
? Dependable


Primary Responsibilities
? Continually study and interpret furniture and lighting product design trends via home décor magazines, websites, furniture and lighting fairs etc.
? Collaborate with Lighting & Furniture Product Development Managers in US and in China to interpret and execute design objectives
? Create detailed and practical designs in 3D rendering programs
? Work with product engineers to incorporate efficient KD construction methods into detailed 3D renderings
? Sample photography
? Delegate to and manage workload of design team (2-3 designers)
? Periodically visit furniture and lighting fairs to stay abreast of furniture and lighting design trends, new products, new materials
