JOB DESCRIPTION - Senior IT Infrastructure Consultant

ThoughtWorks Client Infrastructure delivery team is seeking an Senior IT Infrastructure Consultant to join us in [location tbd]. In this role, you will lead the on-site or off-shore delivery and implementation of various IT Infrastructure components that delivers freedom, flexibility, choice, and superior performance. You'll gain an understanding of our customers' infrastructure and business issues, and make recommendations appropriate to their environment. This position is ideal for an infrastructure consultant who wants to build on their core base of knowledge and work in a fast-paced environment. This will involve analysing our requirements, service design, specification, evaluation and hardware and software purchases – as well as promoting services and service management.

Job responsibilities

● Be the subject matter expert at the client site or while working off-site, addressing the technical, developmental, or strategic IT needs related to Infrastructure domain
● Manage problem identification, system architecture definition, software specification and design, testing, and deployment of open source and other commercial solutions
● Adapt with changing customer requirements and provide consulting help
● Administration, support and monitoring of the client IT Infrastructure.
● An expert in your technological field, you’ll support developers and provide advice and training to other members of our team too.
● Respond to incidents, escalations, and exceptions in a professional manner

Required skills

● Excellent technical skills in designing Linux OS based solutions, system configuration, and system administration
● Experience in customization and development, including system performance tuning, building customized distributions, and working with enterprise hardware like SAN-based, NAS-based storage
● Knowledge of how to implement virtualization technologies in an enterprise setting with key skills like VMware, Xenserver, KVM and Hyper-V
● Knowledge of implementing and maintaining disk or tape based backup solution
● Ability to code and script using Python, Shell and other scripting languages
● Strong grasp of automation tools, especially the ones in the open source world
● Has exposure around application deployments, build management and configurations around it.
● Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to communicate value, progress, and metrics of key projects to a diverse audience of stakeholders
● Ability to constantly learn about new technologies and apply those concepts to customers' needs
● Willingness to work as part of a geographically dispersed team while demonstrating flexibility and initiative
● Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
