Responsibilities:

• Sets the direction and determines strategy for the REI color department.
• Establishes standards, processes and controls to manage color development at REI.
• Requests and evaluates lab dip submissions.
• Maintains color details and states in PLM.
• Communicates color development status to stakeholders throughout the organization
• Provides color technical support to Gear and Apparel product teams.
• Monitors and ensures compliance to timelines.
• Organizes and maintains the color reference library.
• Creates color reference tools for the Product Development and Merchandising divisions.
• Identifies and resolves potential color quality issues
• Communicates bulk related color issues.
• Creates and maintains the Color Quality Manual. Ensures all vendors follow our procedures.
• Utilizes software and equipment solutions to increase color development accuracy and efficiency.
• Researches and proposes software and equipment solutions to increase color development accuracy and efficiency. Implements new technology solutions.
• Networks with colorists, color software, standards, equipment, and dye manufacturers to share best practices and stay abreast of latest advancements in color development.

Qualifications:

1.Bachelor's degree in textiles, apparel design, or equivalent work experience.
2.5+ years of experience in the apparel or textile industry.
3. Hands on experience with color matching equipment such as spectrophometer and color management systems.
4.Technical understanding of textile coloration techniques/limitations, including fibers, yarns, dyeing, finishing, coating.
4. Knowledge of testing methods, interpretation and application of results.
5.Must be able to communicate effectively with Design, Production, Merchandising and international suppliers regarding color processes and color quality issues, both written and verbal.
6. Ability to travel approximately 2 weeks per year.
7.Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.
8.Clearly conveys and accurately receives information by a variety of methods and in various situations.
Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization.
9. Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.
